Gathering Fellowship Welcome! Greet one another in the joy of the Lord! Children’s worship bags are in the narthex. Audio amplifiers and large print bulletins are available from the ushers upon request. Welcome Prelude (Please quiet voices, hearts and cell phones in preparation for worship. Pass the Friendship Pad along the pew; fill out Prayer cards.) 11:00 Introit – Hymn 6 – I Bind unto Myself Today Call to Worship (from Ephesians 1:3,13-14) Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, in him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory. Hymn 1 – Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty! Call to Confession The proof of God’s amazing love is this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Through the work of Christ we are already forgiven. Confident in this truth, we dare to approach God in faith, confess our sin, and embrace the grace that awaits us. Prayer of Confession Triune God, you have made yourself known as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. In your very being, you are a God of intimate relationship, complete love and open communication. We are created in your image. Yet in our being, so often we avoid true intimacy in favor of shallow relationships, we fail to love ourselves, others and you fully, our words and actions communicate less than our best. Why is this so? We have broken relationship with you, and tried to live on our own apart from your presence. We have sinned, and need your re-creation through grace. In Christ, renew your image within us. By Your Spirit, make us whole again. We ask this is your holy name. Amen. (Please spend a moment in silent reflection and confession.) Words of Assurance Response of Praise We are Forgiven We are forgiven; we are forgiven. Thanks be to God; thanks be to God. We are forgiven; we are forgiven. Thanks be to God; thanks be to God. Tim Havlicek Affirmation of faith (excerpts from the Scots Confession) We confess and acknowledge one God alone, to whom alone we must cleave, whom alone we must serve, whom only we must worship, and in whom alone we put our trust...one in substance and yet distinct in three persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. That same eternal God and Father, who by grace alone chose us in his Son Christ Jesus before the foundation of the world was laid, appointed him to be our head, our brother, our pastor, and the great bishop of our souls...giving power to as many as believe in him to be the sons of God. Our faith and its assurance do not proceed from flesh and blood, that is to say, from natural powers within us, but are the inspiration of the Holy Ghost; whom we confess to be God, equal with the Father and with his Son, who sanctifies us, and brings us into all truth by his own working.
