ELIZABETHAN ERA

INVENTIONS
ELIZABETHAN ERA
Home-Life
Mechanical
During this era, home life inventions
were of great importance to the
people because they wanted to make
life easier for everyone. Etching was
envisioned by Urs Graf in 1513. In
London, bottled beer was initiated in
1568. Francis Bacon invented frozen
chicken in 1593. Astonishingly,
2000-3000 new words were invented
by William Shakespeare during his
prodigious life. The water
thermometer was formulated by
Galileo in 1593.
In the Elizabethan Era, there were
many compelling inventions that may
seem very simple to us now. Advanced
mechanical inventions that we have
now were unquestionably non-existent,
but they were the inauguration of the
things that we have now and without
them, we would have never had such
precocious things. The horizontal water
wheel was contrived in 1510 by
Leonardo da Vinci. Incredibly, the first
robot to be invented was the wooden
robot beetle in 1510 by John
Dee. Although not many people were
able to invest in them, Sir John
Harington invented the first flushing
toilet in 1591.
† INVENTORS ¢
During the Shakespearean time, there were many
interesting and breakthrough inventions and
discoveries. Without these inventions, we would
not have all the interesting and mind-boggling
inventions. We should be very
grateful for these incredible
inventors because they make our
lives better.
Transportation Inventions
Transportation inventions in this era
would soon become the incredible
inventions that we have in the 21st
century. The Mercator map projection
was developed by Gerard Mercator in
1569. While engaging as the Queen's
coach designer, Guilliam Boonen
invented the spring-suspension coach in
1569. The underwater warship was
invented by Leonardo da Vinci. In 1578,
William Borne formulated the
submarine. Invented by
Cornelis Drebbel, the
leather-covered rowboat
with oars was first made in
1620.

EDUCATION INVENTIONS
Education inventions were very juvenile compared
to the inventions we have now but these were the
beginning. Hans & Zacharias Digges invented the
compound microscope in 1590. The Gregorian
calendar was published by Pope Gregory XIII in
1582. In 1583, Leonard & Thomas Digges
invented the telescope. The first preface to the first
edition of Euclid's Elements of Geometry was
produced by John Dee in 1550 in
English. Published by William Gilbert in 1600,
"On the Magnet" was an immensely important
book to science. Invented in Switzerland by
Conrad Gesner, the graphite pencil was developed
and used instead of a lead pencil.
society in this era because they had a lot of wars
back then and they were always attempting to
make new weapons and attacking material to
make wars easier. Tartaglia's gunner's quadrant,
an aiming cannon, was invented in 1537. The
first rocket was formulated by William
Congreve in 1670. The English and Dutch
armies envisioned the gun in the
1700's. Invented by Francis Bacon in 1650,
gunpowder became an astonishing development
to the weaponry industry in this time. In the
1600's, the first rapier was invented.
