Scissors, Cutting Mat,
Rotary Cutter, Acrylic Ruler,
White Thread, Needle,
Permanent Fabric Glue (I
use Fabri Tac Glue or other
permanent glue that doesn’t
seep into the fabric.)
Instructions 1. Of the green flocked felt, cut out a 14" x 18" piece for the front and a
Christmas tree using the pattern provided.
2. Of the white felt, cut out 3, 2½" x 11" strips and a 4" circle.
3. With the white pearl cotton, blanket-stitch the three white strips in place
on the front of the Santa Mat as shown in the photo.
4. Blanket-stitch the 4" circle on the mat just above and to the right of the
Christmas Tree.
5. Cut out a 14" x 18" piece of the pirate green felt for the back. Blanketstitch the front and back of the Santa mat together, wrong sides facing,
along all edges.
6. Glue the Christmas tree over the three white strips as shown at a slight
angle.
7. Decorate the tree with the ric rac as garland, trimming the ends as
needed. Cut out small squares of the green flocked felt around the
snowflakes and glue them to the tree on the garland for decorations as
shown.
8. Tie the pearl cotton thread in each button so it looks stitched and then
glue 6 buttons on the tree in the center of the snowflake ornaments.
9. Glue the white ball fringe across the top edge of the mat, slightly lower
than the actual edge. Glue 5 red buttons onto the gimp of the ball fringe
for more color.
10. Glue the remaining buttons to the front of the Santa Mat in a random
pattern, 3 buttons in a cluster.
