KENDRIYA VIHAR II PUJA COMMITTEE
Secretary’s report
Dear Members,
It was an honour and pleasant surprise for the KV II Puja Committee to undertake the challenge to carry out the
responsibility in setting the ball rolling for a Puja Committee. Durgapuja being the first and important activity of
the Committee, it was a tensionous moment for all of us as to how to proceed with such a mega event. Being the
first event, we had to face lot of problems in arranging things and set the ball rolling which will be a yard stick for
future committee. However, with the help and co-operation from all committee members and especially all lady
members of the Campus, Durga Puja and all other events during the year like Lakshmi Puja, Kali Puja/Diwali, New
Year Celebration, Republic Day Celebration, Annual Sports and Saraswati Puja have been successfully completed. I
take pleasure in submitting account for the year supported by a gist of activities undertaken by the Committee
during the past year :
Initial start up : Initial teething problems were faced by the new committee for christening the committee,
preparation of bye-law, opening of bank account and printing of initial documents. It took good amount of time
and labour for the committee to go through these hurdles and we could prepare bye-law, open bank account with
Vijaya Bank, Airport Branch, Kolkata. Permission from appropriate police authority for performing Puja in our
campus was a difficult moment as our earlier assumption could not get approval from police authorities. However,
we could get the permission from Local Municipality and nod from Barrackpore Polic e Commissionerate.
Preparatoin for Durgapuja : Several meetings of EC were held for pre-puja activitiesfor their guidance and the
Campus was seen with lot of activities. Idol maker, purohit, dhaki, decorator, caterer, fruits and flower agent
were identified. Members joined hand in collecting donations, contribution and sponsors for advertisement.
Prabhat Pheri on Mahalaya day was the first day of Puja programmes which was gracefully organized by the lady
members of the campus. Thereafter all activitires for Durgapuja, which commenced on Panchami day, was
gracefully attended by all members. With cultural programmes on all the days [from Panchami to Dashami ], the
puja was an enjoyable event and a grand get-together for all friends, relatives and children. Durga Puja was
concluded with great enthusiasm and with tears with the immersion of Maa Durga. Photographs, videographs of
all events were taken and was played back during Dashami night which was another enjoyable evening. A
colourful Souvenir was brought out during the Puja and certain photographs of few performances were placed in
the Souvenir. Copies of Souvenir distributed to members and sponsors. Thanks to Ms. Aradhana Nag for her
support and co-operation in conducting few cultural programmes .
Community Bhog on all three days – Saptami, Astami and Nabami and on Kalipuja and Saraswati Puja day were
arranged . Entire preparation for Bhog and its smooth distribution was made possible only due to active
participation and supervision of Dr. A. K. Barman. I sincerely thank Dr. A. K. Barman for this noble contribution.
It was a great support and cooperation from all members, especially lady residents . On behalf of Committee, I
convey my sincere thanks to the entire team lead by Shri Sudhansu Koley and Shri Rajesh Kumar.
Sponsors for Durga Puja : With our vigorous attempt for collection of fund, we had taken several strategic
attempts viz., collection from corporates for our souvenir, collection from residents and non-resident members
and other sources viz., carpenters, grill manufacturers having contracts in our campus. I convey my sincere thanks
to all sponsors and members of our Committee who have collected advertisements.
Sponsors for puja utensils : As a strategic plan, we had also placed a request before all our resident members for
sponsor of puja items viz., puja utensils, saree, pradeep, kalash, flower, additional subscription for community
bhog and puja It is my pleasure to keep on record that our sincere and honest call had been responded positively
by the residents, especially lady members, who had volunteered for this cause and donated generously. Almost all
utensils for Puja purpose have been sponsored by members and after few more additions in the Puja utensil list,
today we are proud to say that we have acquired almost all utensils for puja and are self sufficient in conducting
any puja with these utensils.
Thanks to all lady members who have volunteered and contributed for this noble
cause. Our thanks to all advertisers, other sponsors for their contribution and collectors of advertisement but for
which these events could not have been a successful one. May Maa Durga bless them all.
Lakshmi Puja : Immediately after Durga Puja, all were very sad after bidding good bye to Maa Durga, however,
they again assembled joyfully during Lakshmi Puja which was performed with same colour and enthusiasm.
Members and children enjoyed the Puja.
Kali Puja : It was another great evening. While performing Kali Puja, people celebrated Diwal. Children, with the
support of their parents, burst crackers. Kali Puja commenced at mid night and it was continuing till 2 a.m.
Members were in fast till puja concluded. All enjoyed the evening.
New Year Celebration : It was time to welcome 2016 and bid good bye to 2015. New Year was also celebrated by
the Committee with cutting of a cake and followed by few programmes and a Contributory Dinner. All welcomed
2016 with bursting of crackers.
Republic day celebration : Republic Day 2016 was celebrated with great enthusiasm by all members. Dr. Pati, exPrincipal of Berhampore Medical College, Odhisha, a resident of our complex, hoisted the tri colour. Our sincere

all. Thanks to all, especially youngstars, for organizing the sports and made it a grand success.

Schools were closed and Saraswati Puja was also arranged by all school authorities. Hence the entire day kept all
children busy with their new dress es. Girls with sari were looking gorgeous. The day was also a rememberable
one for all members.
There was no mandate to hold any other programme by the Committee, the Committee could not organize few
other important cultural programmes during the year. However, lady members of the Campus organized few
programmes like Bengali Naba Borsho, Rabindra Jayanti and Nazrul Jayanti. It was well attended by all followed
by contributory dinners. Thanks to all lady members.
Purchase of Public Address system (PAS) : Considering the request of members and a ‘go-ahead’ by GB, we
purchased Ahuja Make PAS and few supporting items to make ourselves self sufficient in sound system to
conduct all our future events.
All the items - purchased from market and donated by members - have been listed in the inventory list to keep a
record of it. A copy of list is also kept in the trunk for easy reference by any members. We could get a trunk from
Dr. A.K. Barman for storing all these puja items. Shri Anjan Rai has also assured to donate a trunk for storing our
PAS system. Thanks to Dr. Barman and Shri Rai.
N. Keshav & Associates, Chartered Accountants, had agreed to carry out the audit work of the activities of our
Committee and has completed the job well in time. We record our appreciation for their honorary job and thank
them for their co-operation.
Hopefully a good beginning of the year which passed on with happy note ! I sincerely hope that future years will
also pass on with similar or more colourful activities to make our lives more lively in the campus. A list of all
suppliers, agents and their contact details are kept on record for conducting any programme by committee in
conducting any programme in future.
Support and co-operation from few members viz., Dr.A.K. Barman, Shri A. S. Bhakta, Shri Sumit Deb Barman, Shri
Sudhansu Koley lead by our President and EC who have continuously guided and supported the cause, are
appreciative. We sincerely thank them all.
Thanks to all : On behalf of the KV II Puja Committee I convey my sincere thanks and appreciation to all members,
especially all resident members, sponsors, volunteers, for their contribution and whole hearted co -operation in
conducting all programmes but for whom our endeavours would not have been that successful as described.
