The Albany Plan
1754-Delegates from nine of the thirteen colonies met in
Albany, New York.
A. Benjamin Franklin, a delegate from Pennsylvania came
to Albany, NY with the “Albany Plan”, a plan to get the
colonies to work together to support England.
B. Tried to convince the Colonies to work together and
fight the French. He told the Colonists that if they didn’t
work together and fight the French, they would all die
because the French would see them as English and kill
them.
C. The Plan failed because the Colonies wouldn’t work

colonists to stop fighting each other and work together.
You’ve come to this convention and you’re trying to get them
to stop arguing and listen
Cut out the strips, attach them to desks. Have students take on
the role of the delegates to the Albany Convention. 1 student
will be Franklin. Encourage arguing. Explain this was the way
it was and why it failed.
