History of the World Part 1: (1981)
Stars: Mel Brooks, Dom DeLuise
Plot: Mel Brooks's comic genius is unleashed in spades in this episodic spoof of history's
seminal moments, which begins with a brilliant send-up of the cinematic classic 2001: A Space
Odyssey. Brooks goes on to lampoon the Stone Age, the Roman Empire, the Spanish
Inquisition and ends with a clever takeoff on the French Revolution.

Plot: “Driving Miss Daisy” affectionately covers the twenty-five year relationship between a

chauffeur, Hoke (Morgan Freeman). Both employer and employee are outsiders: Hoke because
of the color of his skin, Miss Daisy because she is Jewish in a WASP-dominated society. It is
only when Hoke is retired and Miss Daisy is confined to a home for the elderly that the two
fully realize that they’ve been friends all along.

strike, newsie Jack Kelly (Christian Bale) sets out to organize the boys into a union, with David
Jacobs (David Moscow) as the outfit's brains and Jack as its spokesman.

and a revolutionary technology known as Google Earth, he sets out to find his lost family and
finally return to his first home.

every bird then known in the United States. This film provides a large, clear window into life on
the American frontier; and how people regarded nature. It creates a meaningful portrait of Art
and Science in the first decades of the 19th century. It shows us a person, and a people: the life
and times of John James Audubon.
