Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Primary School
Newsletter: 3 February 2017
A message from the Principal
It has been a very busy term: I would like to thank all the staff for their hard work and dedication to our school. We are very lucky to
have a great team who care, support and educate our children. As we end term 3 on 10 February, this is the last newsletter of the term.
I would like to wish you all a restful and safe break, ready for term 4 on 20 February. Have a lovely weekend.
Jenny Walker

“Active Kids” is back! Sainsbury's launched their 2017 scheme on
25th January 2017 and it will run through to 2nd May. This is a
great opportunity to collect as many vouchers as possible which we
can exchange for brand new sports equipment. The more vouchers
we collect, the more equipment we can order! Please post your
vouchers through the letterbox at reception.
Thank you for your support.
Save the Children – Christmas Jumper Day - Thank you to
everyone who donated to Save the Children on the last day of
term. Together, we raised £109!
An appointment form for Parents’ Evening is
attached. If you do not have printing facilities,
please write the details on a separate piece of
paper for each child. The forms should be given
to the Class Teachers (not to the office
please) by Tuesday 7 February. Thank you.
We have had a busy sporting week! Many thanks to Mr French who has provided transport to the events.
The Athletics Team who took part in the Indoor Athletics Competition at Wood Green School on Tuesday.
The girls came 1st in the 2 x 2 lap relay (Sophie and Amelka) and 1st in the vertical jump (Zoe and Sophie).
We came 7th out of 12 schools overall, so very well done!
On Thursday, the Netball Team played Cokethorpe Juniors in a match at Cokethorpe School. The result
was 2-0 to the home side. Well done to our team on your first match together - You played really well
against experienced opposition. Miss Worley, PE Leader.

Year 2 trip to Warwick Castle
The children had a fantastic visit to Warwick Castle and were a pleasure to take out of school. They thoroughly enjoyed a talk about
William the Conquer and Henry 8th. We visited the Time Tower, Birds of Prey and climbed the steep steps to the top of the mound! The
children really enjoyed visiting the Horrid History Maze and looking at all the different events that have happened through time.

Year 6 visit to Mill House
As a class, we were asked to take part in a community project with Mill House residential home to help launch their new refurbishment.
We were asked to write about our hopes, dreams and aspirations for the future which were to be put in a time capsule. All of us were
very honoured to be part of the event. On Wednesday 25th January, we went to Mill House to bury the time capsule. A photographer
from the local newspaper was there to record the event. It is to be dug up in 2027 - we wonder whether we will have achieved our goals!
