• Flesh and texture emphasized, more sensual
(marble often used as the original media, not bronze)
• Not frontal; meant to be seen from all angles
• Nude women acceptable as subject matter
• Canon of proportions changed: 8+ heads tall, more slender
• More youthful idealizations
• More human: loving, playful, wistful, dreamy, tired,
reflective; less heroic and invincible
• More gestures, more communicative
• More toussled hair
