November; a month to remember those in our military
and give thanks with family and friends.
Thanks to all of you that took part in our For Small Hands
Fundraiser. Some of the proceeds from your orders help
replace needed materials in our classrooms.

We are proud to partner with MCM fundraising to offer you delicious Lyman
Orchard pies and Sweet Crumbs cookie dough, just in time for the Holidays. An
email explaining the particulars of this fundraiser was sent last week. Order
forms and envelopes will go home with your child this week. Try not to drool too
much over the mouthwatering pictures!
Dates to Remember:
November 4 = No school for Parent Teacher Conferences
November 11 = Observance of Veteran’s day
November 15 = All School Parent’s Night Out
November 27th and 28th = School Closed for the
Thanksgiving Holiday.
Toddler one Room
news
November: Finds us exploring healthy foods, the color green
throughout the room and continuing to learn about grace and
courtesy (manners).
Tactile Bin – We will place water in the bin with
various sized pitchers to help children learn to
pour. Half way through the month we will put in
small cups to help extend the work.
Practical Life = We have brought a toy stove
into our classroom and we will be talking about
healthy eating. Our shelves will contain a
vegetable scrubbing work, cranberry scooping
and trying to stick golf tees into clay.
Math/Sensorial = A soft house with items to be
pulled out, explored and counted, a new
knobbed cylinder and several new posting
works.
Turkey Song
Mr. Turkey's tail is big and wide
(spread fingers)
He swings it when he walks
(swing hands)
His neck is long (stretch neck)
His chin is red (stroke chin)
And he gobbles when he talks

Language = Matching different plastic food
items to picture cards. We are working on
signing “more” and “all done”. New touch and
feel cards will be added to our basket.
Books
Cooking: We will be making cranberry muffins.
Art projects = Painting a fall tree picture using
our finger tips. The children will also use brown
textured paint to paint a turkey.

Toddler Two Room News
Concepts to be explored: Triangle shape, the color
brown, and Thanksgiving.
Math/Sensorial = The children will be making a
shape placemat using different sized triangles,
feather matching and counting and organizing
gourds by size, color, and shape.
Practical Life = Plucking Indian corn then pouring
the kernels, table setting, pulling a scarf through a
tube, bead stringing, flower arranging, and
scooping.
Science = Observing weather: Using a weather
chart (sunny, cloudy, rainy etc.) Water and
continue to observe an acorn we have planted.
Cooking= Children will make corn muffins and
stuffing for our class feast and talk about healthy
food – healthy eating.
Art projects this month: Native Americans and
Pilgrims.
Painting turkeys with feathers
Making scarecrows with straw
Decorating a vest with symbols
Printing with Indian corn
Constructing Pilgrim hats
Building a ship from a large box, decorating and
then sailing off to the “New World.”
Books

Practical Life: Here are some of the items that will be presented on the shelves this month.

Leaf bowl bean scooping

 Practical life items

Math: We will contine working with students on number recognition, one to one
correspondence and introducing the golden beads and number cards.
Works on the shelves:
 Hanging bead stair 1-9
 Counting fall items 1-9
 Scarecrow dot to dot
 Magnetic patteren rings
 New bead stair counting page
 Writing # pages.
 Posting 1-5 with wooden number tiles
Sensorial: We will add a new sense; the sense of sight. This will be combined with hearing
and tasting which we have already explored. We will do a tasting of sweet, sour, bitter,
and salty. Color box number three will be presented along with a ‘fall’ color sorting work.
Science: We will be talking about healthy eating and the four food groups. We will have
a food matching work along with a hearing, tasting, and seeing objects sorting work. A
cranberry tasting will take place and then we will graph the results. Along with our
healthy eating and in the spirit of Thanksgiving and a sense of community, we will be
collecting items for the Sandwich food pantry. A separate email will go home with details
of this food drive. We encourage you to get your child involved with helping select which
items they should bring to school.

Art Cart and Projects: We will be studying Leonardo Da Vinci: The children will do a Mona Lisa
coloring and creating a self-portrait. Individual projects are stained glass leaf prints, collage
in a leaf print, autumn necklace stringing on gimp. A Thanksgiving picture with a turkey
handprint and poem about giving thanks.
