Camerata Vocale Sine Nomine (Cuba) – February 11- March 10, 2015
Internationally recognized professional
ensemble performing a wide range of
musical genres including traditional
historical works, spirituals and
contemporary Cuban music.
Founded in 2003 by director, Enrique

Nomine established itself as a premiere
group in Cuba’s rich choral
environment. Unique to this ensemble is
the use of male voices for the soprano,

This relatively rare format is the basis
for interpretation from the earliest
polyphony to the present. The current
director, Leonor Suárez Dulzaides, has
led the ensemble since 2008. A variety of performances have been given since the group’s debut in the
early music festival “Esteban Salas de Musica Antigua” in the main auditorium of Havana. 2014 marked

Insingizi (Zimbabwe) – January 15 - February 29, 2016
Winner of the Babel Med Radio France World
Music Award in 2010, Insingizi released their
successful international debut album Voices of
Southern Africa in 2004, which sold over 250,000
copies in North America alone. Their music has
been featured in many international productions
and major TV and radio shows. Insingizi’s music
is filled with hope, optimism, and faith. Wherever

overwhelmingly beautiful, the lyric is ultimately
hopeful, and the inherent tone of the message is
true to their spiritual beliefs, creating a truly
inspirational experience. A highlight of their live
shows is the energetic performance of the traditional "gumboot dance" of the previously oppressed South
African miners. Hot off the hills of their successful participation in the 2014 Serenade! Washington DC
Choral Festival they also performed in the 2014 Rhapsody! International Music Festival in Vienna,
Salzburg and Prague to be invited back to the US in October 2014 for a whirlwind performing and

Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra (Germany) with violinist Hugo Ticciati and
pianist Olga Scheps – February 2016
Founded by Karl Münchinger in
1945, the Stuttgart Chamber
Orchestra has held a prominent
position in the international
orchestral world for seven
decades. Münchinger, who was
principal conductor of the orchestra
for over 40 years, was able to
attract a small group of elite
players in the early days to realize
his vision of a completely new and
exemplary way of interpreting
works by Johann Sebastian Bach
and the Viennese classicists. Dennis Russell Davies, who was principal conductor from 1995 to 2006,
redefined the orchestra’s artistic priorities to enhance the orchestra’s versatility. Under his directorship,
the orchestra was able to distinguish itself, both in the concert hall and in the recording studio, with
repertoire from the 20th and 21st centuries. Innumerable concert performances around the globe and
participation in the top international music festivals have been the hallmark of the high quality and the
outstanding reputation of the ensemble. Additionally, the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra fulfills its function
as regional ambassador with regular worldwide concert tours. After concerts in South Korea, Russia,
Spain, Nepal, China, and Japan in the last years, the orchestra has also made recent appearances in
France, India, and South America. In the 2012-2013 season, the orchestra toured Japan and China again,
with further engagements in the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Spain in 2014. The Orchestra is currently
under the directorship of Matthias Foremny.
Violinist Hugo Ticciati embraces the world of contemporary music, collaborating with a myriad of
composers around the world. Praised by Arvo Part for his “rare ability to convey a profound
understanding of the music and shed light on its spiritual intent,” Hugo is one of Europe’s rising stars in
both classical and contemporary music. German-Russian pianist Olga Scheps was already winning
international competitions at the age of twelve, and has since continued to grow as a passionate and
driven performer. Having played across Europe with leading international orchestras and chamber
ensembles, Olga is particularly known for her passionate performances of the works of Chopin.
“With warm strings… the [Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra] performance was like a black-and-white photo
lifted off the page and came to life.” -The New York Times

Escolania de Montserrat (Spain) – April 2016
The Escolania de Montserrat is one of the
oldest music schools in Europe and is
arguably the premiere boys’ choir in Spain.
By the 13th century, a small group of boys
were already serving in the Benedictine
abbey and Sanctuary of Our Lady of
Montserrat through the singing and playing
of different musical instruments. Throughout
the centuries, many remarkable composers
and performers were spawned from the socalled Montserrat Music School. Under the
direction and teaching of Fr. Ireneu Segarra
(1953-1997), the Escolania became
internationally recognized on a greater scale,
recording many CDs and participating in festivals, as well as touring many countries.
Over the last few years, the Escolania has recorded the CDs O Vos Omnes, El Nostre Nadal, P. Miquel
López, and a double CD of Responsoris de Setmana Santa by Narcís Casanoves. The choir has been
conducted by Mstislav Rostropovitch, Sir Neville Marriner, Salvador Mas, Michael Boder, Harry Bicket,
Kirill Petrenko and Jordi Savall. Over these years the choir has undertaken tours of Russia, Holland,
Puerto Rico, Hungary, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, France, Italy and Poland, as well as many
concerts in Catalonia. In 2014 the choir was featured by Classical Movements in their first ever US tour
on the East Coast culminating in an amazing performance for a packed Music Centre at Strathmore as
part of Serenade! International Choral Series.

The ensemble “Basiani” was created in
2000 with the blessing of Ilia II Catholic Patriarch of All Georgia. The
ensemble is part of the Tbilisi Holy
Trinity Cathedral Church choir and is
comprised of singers from various parts

traditional families of musicians and all

songs and chants by researching and
reviving them from the phonological and
notated recordings, while also studying songs directly from the famous singers and conductors of elder
generations in different regions of Georgia. Additionally, the ensemble cooperates with many worldrenowned ethno-musicians. In its thirteen years of existence, Basiani has been invited by various
international festivals and has visited 20 countries and performed more than 200 concerts.

returned for a second performance at Lincoln Center’s White Light’s Festival in 2012. During the summer
of 2014, the ensemble performed in Spain and Ireland to critical acclaim.
“Like other of the harmonically quirky polyphonic songs performed by the stellar Ensemble Basiani,
‘Khasanbegura’ sounded cutting-edge, certainly to Western ears.”
