DHL Parcel Center in Obertshausen
In Germany, Deutsche Post DHL Group operates 82 letter sorting centers, 33 parcel hubs and
two international mail centers. Now the company is establishing an even closer network and
commissioning Germany’s largest parcel center in Obertshausen. It is the first center with a
sorting capacity of 50,000 parcels per hour.

Structural features:
- self-supporting roof structure spanning 56 meters
- a total of 62 concrete trusses, each 56 meters in length,
were used for the self-supporting roof structure

- more than 6 kilometers of sorting and conveyor lines
- more than 2,000 tons of steel were used for the structure
supporting the industrial equipment alone
- more than 400 sorting points
- fully automated bulk unloading of arriving parcel volumes
- own state-of-the-art, gas-fired combined heat and power
(CHP) plant with a thermal output of 363 kW and electrical
output of 228 kW to heat the hall and to generate electric
power
- Photovoltaic plant on the roof surface of the main building
with an output of 650 kWp (kilowatt peak)
- Use of particularly energy-efficient electric motors for the
sorting technology; use of an energy-efficient floor-heating
system as well as LED lighting technology.
- DGNB Certification in Gold for outstanding commitment to
meeting sustainability objectives in the construction of the
parcel center.
