A J OURNE Y THROUGH THE WIL DERNE SS
Wilderness is a conservation organisation and ecotourism company that specialises in memorable wildlife experiences in some of the most remote and pristine areas in Africa, at the same time remaining fiercely
committed to protecting the continent’s precious natural resources. We operate a portfolio of some 70 lodges, camps and safaris in nine African countries: Botswana, Congo (Brazzaville), Kenya, Namibia, Malawi,
South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe and the Seychelles.
W hy W il derness?
• We offer complete, tailor-made services throughout southern Africa including logistics, accommodation in our camps as well as with our
extensive associated partners and private and scheduled sightseeing.
• We help to conserve more than 3 million hectares (8 million acres) of Africa’s best wildlife areas, equating to 3 000 hectares (8 000 acres) of
private land per guest, creating a unique sense of seclusion, comfort, privacy and space.
• Wilderness aims to build and maintain relationships with our agents, simultaneously protecting the relationship between you and your clients.
• Our trade partner’s details are always communicated to partner properties.
• Our price points and properties range from high-end luxury to more affordable options – we work hand in hand with you to design an itinerary
which suits your clients’ budget and bucket list.
• We have been in operation for three decades: we own our lodges, operate a touring and transfers business in Cape Town, Victoria Falls and
Windhoek – Wilderness Touring – and have our own air charter – Wilderness Air – all together creating a seamless itinerary for your clients.
• We have offices in every country in which we operate – ensuring that our staff are on the ground to assist.
• Our work in building sustainable conservation economies in Africa is defined by “the 4Cs”: Conservation, Community, Culture and Commerce.
Our non-profit trusts – Children in the Wilderness and the Wilderness Wildlife Trust – help to drive this vision.

SOUTH AFRICA
From bush to beach, mountain to
rainforest, there is no other country
in Africa quite like this bowl-shaped
landmass where the waters of the
warm Indian and cool Atlantic oceans
meet.
Popular South Africa is a melting pot of history, cultures, habitats and wildlife. Tropical rainforests, wild coastlines, arid deserts, dramatic mountains,
open bushveld and vibrant cities make this country the place to be.
World-famous for its wildlife, Kruger National Park and surrounding reserves brings you incredible game viewing. Coastal areas, including scenic
Maputaland, present up-close encounters with amazing marine life in and out of the waters.
Cape Town is not to be missed with its white beaches, picturesque winelands and historical landmarks. Further along the coast, the spectacular
Garden Route transports you along a dramatic and rocky shoreline where forest-covered cliffs meet spectacular rough seas.

Namibia’s soaring red dunes, stark moonscapes, ancient valleys and rocky hills scattered with bizarre flora is only topped by the astonishing amount
of wildlife found wandering this arid terrain.
NAMIBIA
You’ll be hard-pressed to find
anything like Namibia anywhere else
on this planet – quite simply, this is
safari with space and culture.
As one of the driest areas on the planet with an infinite supply of blue skies, sun-drenched weather and star-filled nights, Namibia is the absolute

beaches of the Atlantic Ocean, and the mystical Kunene with its baffling numbers of desert-adapted wildlife.
Combine this with all the fascinating cultural influences of this country and you embark on a life-changing journey and most certainly a safari with a
difference.

Zambia is a vast country, friendly and
peaceful, that offers superb wildlife
and cultural encounters.
Zambia is a massive country with a low population, so that a journey through this secluded slice of Africa gives you a timeless sense of undiscovered
wilderness. Predators are especially prevalent and night game drives reveal fascinating nocturnal animals. Walking safaris are the most exciting way
to view large concentrations of game in some of the wildest and most remote areas on the continent.
Our areas not only include one of the largest national parks in Africa, Kafue National Park, and the pristine South Luangwa, but also the adventure
capital – Livingstone! Here the legendary Victoria Falls sends up a spectacular plume of spray that can be seen for miles. Not far from this phenomenon
is the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park fed by the mystical Zambezi River, which is filled with crocodile and hippo.
O u r s u g g e st io n s :
Not only do we suggest that you travel to all our areas to get an all-round view of Zambia, but a trip across the border to Mana Pools National Park in

The privilege and thrill of observing
one of our closest relatives in the wild
simply has to be on your bucket list.
Huge species diversity is one of the real drawcards of this fascinating ecosystem. More than 400 mammal species, 1 000 bird, 700 fish and nearly
10 000 plant species – of which 3 000 are found nowhere else – have been recorded. As well as gorillas, an unexpectedly large number of primates are
alive and well in these remote northern forests. You can also see forest elephant, forest buffalo and the unusual bongo antelope.
Not only are rainforests slowly being destroyed, but many of its large mammals are endangered. The joy, therefore, of seeing these animals in their
natural habitat and being a part of an authentic safari such as this is truly a once-in-a-lifetime journey and will inspire all who visit.

4C the Future
Wilderness is all about the 4Cs – Commerce, Conservation, Community and Culture! All of our operations
are run with this strategy in mind. While one or more C may be more important in some contexts, we
endeavour to undertake all four to the best of our abilities in all of our areas.
Commerce deals with our ecotourism offerings and products – Wilderness Safaris, Adventures,
Explorations, Collection and Air – and is perhaps the most critical element to sustainability in the modern
world.
Conservation is divided into Environmental Management Systems, which encourages us to build
and manage our camps in the most eco-friendly way possible, and Biodiversity, which covers the
understanding, management and protection of the wildlife and ecosystems with which we are involved.

them the importance of conservation. The programme aims to develop environmental leaders who are
