I have been teaching at Transfiguration for six years now. I love teaching Kindergarten and getting to guide the children through so many first time experiences. I love those moments of joy and awe they feel as they grow, change, and develop throughout the year! Why do you teach? While my friends changed their minds daily as to what they wanted to be when they grew up, my dream never changed – I have always wanted to be a teacher. Both of my parents are in education, so I spent a lot of time at school with them. I love helping children grow and develop, both as students and as people. Being a part of their journey is such a special thing. I am so blessed to be able to live out this dream here at Transfiguration, where I also began my journey! What is your credo – words to live by – favorite Bible verse? One of my favorite quotes is “Never lose your childish enthusiasm.” This is especially true when teaching Kindergarten! As an adult, it is a blessing to so often be reminded of the little joys in life! My favorite Bible verse is “love your neighbor as yourself” from Mark. I try to incorporate this into our daily life in Kindergarten and my own life as well! Tell us about your family, pets, hobbies, time away from school? I got married at Transfiguration in July of 2014. My husband, Kyle, and I have two dogs named Kenzie and Cora. We also have a bird named Callahan. I volunteer for Coco’s Heart Dog Rescue and help plan their big fundraiser each year. In my free time, I enjoy being outside, camping and hiking with my family! I also love to sing, play the flute, act in shows, and sometimes design and sew costumes for Woodbury Community Theater. I am currently working on my master’s degree in K-12 reading instruction and will graduate from the University of St. Thomas this spring. What is your favorite ice cream? Food? My favorite ice cream is anything with caramel or raspberry – though not at the same time! I enjoy lasagna and tacos. Bring a Friend to School – Do you have a friend that does not have school or would like to know more about our school? Invite them to come to school with you on March 4, 2016. There will be NO SCHOOL on APRIL 8. (Staff in-service) Declamations begin on Wednesday April 6, 2016, in the afternoon and ALL DAY on Thursday, April 7, 2016.
