How does the RamDrive 4x4 system work?
The 4x4 transfer case included in the RamDrive 4x4 kit has a fixed aluminum tube installed through a void
space in the transfer case. The PTO drive line shaft is attached to the PTO with a splined coupling and passes
through the hollow aluminum tube to the rear of the transfer case where the shaft is supported with an
external flange bearing.
Can I install the RamDrive 4x4 kit?
Yes. You may contact Direct Drive Plus at (610) 273-9937 to have the kit shipped directly to you. Installing the kit
requires only basic tools and mechanical skills. Most body builders will be comfortable installing the kit
themselves. Any RAM commercial truck dealer or transmission garage will be able to perform the install.
What happens to the original transfer case?
Return the original transfer case to your supplying dealer in the shipping container your kit arrived in. You
will be charged a core charge which will be refunded when the original transfer case is received at the dealer.
ONLY CORES WITH 1,000 MILES OR LESS WILL BE ACCEPTED. Over 1,000 miles? Contact Direct Drive Plus for
information on having your used transfer case converted to RamDrive 4x4.
How much time will it take to install the kit including the PTO?
We recommend allowing 6 hours for the first installation. Shops familiar with these types of installations will be
able to install the kit in less than 4 hours.
What happens to the RAM warranty?
Because the transfer case is modified, the OEM warranty will be replaced with our OEM equivalent 5 year /
100,000 mile warranty. The transmission, drive shafts, etc. will continue to be covered under the OEM
warranty policy. As with many OEM warranties, coverage is subject to individual dealer interpretation. Please
