Hammerhead shark The whale shark is the biggest fish in the sea! It can weigh as much as three elephants! The dwarf shark is much smaller! It is as small as the palm of your hand! The great white shark is the deadliest shark It has 50 sharp teeth! Sharks do not usually attack people but we must not swim in waters where sharks have been seen Carpet sharks blend into the sea floor. The Tiger shark is found in many tropical and warm waters. Sharks are very deadly. Most sharks eat meat some eat seals, fish and some eat plankton. Hammerhead sharks gather in large groups in breeding season. • After eating a large meal weighing 30kg, a great white shark will not need to eat for about another 45 days. • Hammerhead sharks are up to 20 feet long! Hammerhead shark The Whale Shark is the biggest shark in the sea. Sharks are not made of bone. They have cartilage instead of bones for their skeleton. Some sharks live for 100 years. Sharks and rays are fish. Sharks and stings rays belong in the same fish family because they both have cartilage instead of bones. They are in the cartilage group. Sharks and rays are fish. Unlike other fish, sharks are warm blooded. Sharks eat meat. The Great white shark has 50 teeth. Great white sharks eat swordfish, smaller fish, seals. Bull sharks can go in fresh water. Bull sharks are born in fresh water. They live in it for one year before going in the sea. The tiger sharks teeth are strong and can crunch through a turtle’s bones and shell. It is called the ‘Tiger of the Sea.’ Most sharks do not lay eggs. They give birth to live babies called pups. Sharks skin is covered with small tooth like scales. Shark have no bones. They have cartilage instead. Some sharks live for 100 years. The biggest great white shark was 7m long and weighed about 3200kg. The bull shark swims up large rivers such as the Amazon, and can be found hundreds of kilometres from the sea. Spiny sharks are pregnant for two years. The great white shark gives birth to only one or two pups, but blue and whale sharks can have more than 100 in one go! The dogfish shark’s egg attaches itself to rocks or seaweed so that it does not float off into deep water.
