Introduction
What kinds of technology do you use on a daily basis at work or home? Technology is
everywhere. We enjoy the convenience of self-check aisles, ATMS, and mobile phones without
giving them a thought. The Internet / World Wide Web is the best library as it is such a large
collection of documents. Feel free to explore the resources at your fingertips here. Be sure to

This document is intended to serve as a supplement to your regular materials. There are so many

Management Information Systems (MIS) are widely used to support managerial operations of a
corporation. MIS may consist of Decision Support Systems, Expert Systems, etc. MIS generate
information that is well organized and accurate in order to aid managers in decision making,
problem solving, etc.

Office Software Suite of Programs
Microsoft Office is the most commonly used suite of programs; it is, by no means, the only set of
applications available. This application software suite supports the creation of documents,
presentations, spreadsheet, database design/management, publications, and communications. The

INTERNET AND THE WORLD WIDE WEB (WWW)
The Internet is one of the best technology resources available to us as it provides awesome
access to e-mail, online banking, education, online shopping, research information, etc. How do
you use the Internet/WWW? The consumer has many products to choose from such as PCs,
laptops, and mobile devices. These are all options for Internet access.
History
The Internet has been around for over 30 years and is the largest network around. The
government/military created the network to serve as a way to communicate during a natural
disaster or catastrophic event. It did not become commercially popular until the 1990’s with the
introduction of the World Wide Web (WWW). The WWW is the collection of websites and
documents (webpage) that may be used for research, communicating, shopping, banking,
schooling, etc.
