Monarch Finger Puppet:
Folkmanis has this really nice finger puppet for sale.
Children can make their own butterfly finger puppet
out of orange tissue paper and a chenille stems or
by coloring in the drawing below with crayons or markers .
If a male monarch, add one black spot on each hind wing vein.
These puppets may be used for guided role playing.
Butterfly Role Playing Activity
Take children out to a butterfly
garden or sunny meadow. Ask them to
imagine they are monarch butterflies, gently
touching (tasting) milkweeds and nectar plants.
They should also stop to smell the
flowers.
Children can also look for other
butterflies to observe, and follow up by every
few days and record their observations. Make binoculars
with two toilet paper rolls taped together and yarn
neckstrap to help focus their attention
watching the butterflies.
