Give a brief summary of the plot of the
documentary
Discuss why this movie is a good
demonstration to show cultures.
Thesis Statement:
 The documentary Babies demonstrates various
cultural universals in child rearing while
highlighting folkways, mores, and taboos from a
(choose your perspective).

Cultural Universals aspects shared by all
cultures (do not forget this definition)
 Role of the mother
 Role of the father
 Role of the community?
 Human necessities: food, shelter, clothing,
comfort

Discuss which norms you feel most
comfortable explaining from the
documentary
 Folkways norms that lack moral significance
 Mores norms that maintain moral significance
 Taboos norms that when broken there are
consequences
 Give examples of the norms you choose to
discuss. You should have at minimum four
examples!


 Symbolic Interactionist perspective
 Explain what you see going on in this
documentary based around this theoretical
perspective, be specific and explain how your
answer connects to the perspective!
