Zoofari Program
Greetings,
Zoofari is a Riverside Discovery Center education program for youth, ages 13-17, who have an interest in the natural
world and in gaining job as well as life skills. This program offers youth an opportunity to learn about public speaking
skills as they educate the visiting public about wildlife and nature using education animals (such as reptiles,
invertebrates and small mammals) as well as biofacts (skulls, pelts, etc.). Participants will learn about the
responsibility of handling money as they sell concessions and other merchandise and about caring for animals as they
assist RDC zookeepers in various animal care projects (cleaning, feeding and diet prep) of some of our animals.
This is a great opportunity for students to gain public speaking skills, confidence, experience personal growth and
develop important job skills.
Participants must fill out an application and have a non-relative fill out the reference form.
Applications are due Monday April 29.
Interviews will take place Friday May 3rd and 10th and Saturday May 11.
There are two Zoofari sessions that students can sign up for.
Session 1: June 4- July 13 (6 weeks)
Training will be May 29 and 30 from 10:00 – 2:00
Session 2: July 16-August 17
Training will be July 15 and 16 from 10:00 -2:00

Expectations
Zoofari will take place on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10:00 -3:00.
Students are expected to sign up for a minimum of 10 days during their sessions and must work the entire work shift.
A schedule form will be handed out at training and days will be filled on a first-come, first -served basis, other days
will be assigned.
Cost: $50/ members; $60/ nonmembers (payable at the interview).
