Teens
 We believe every Christian teenager is
spiritually gifted and should be mentored
into “the work of the ministry.”
 We believe that mentoring is the key to
developing God-given abilities.
 We believe mentoring requires a time
commitment in the context of a caring
relationship.
 We believe that the Christian camp
environment is well-suited for short-term
mentoring experiences, therefore we commit
our staff and resources to mentoring.

What? The Solid Rock Teen (SRT) program
is designed to help teens develop a solid
foundation in servant leadership that will
keep their faith standing firm in the face of
difficult times. Each SRT is placed with a
counselor in a cabin of junior campers,
“watching, learning, and doing” under the
counselor. SRTs also complete a spiritual life
program to develop leadership skills and
encourage spiritual growth.
Dress Code: Clothing must be neat and
modest. Shorts are to be no shorter than three
inches above the knee. Shirts with sleeves are
preferable; no bare midriffs or spaghetti
straps. Conservative one-piece bathing suits
for girls, boxer type trunks for guys, are
required. All shoes must have backs. Clothing
must not display alcohol, tobacco, vulgarity,
or secular bands. Sunday attire for weekends
is a skirt or dress slacks for ladies and nice
pants and collared shirt for men. On Mondays,
SRTs are to wear camp-issued shirts. Men are
expected to have hair trimmed above the ears

and, therefore, will not have all the liberties of
an adult staff member. Also, alcohol, tobacco,
illegal substances, theft, fighting, or
inappropriate treatment of a camper are cause
for dismissal. SRTs must refrain from
developing romantic relationships at camp.
SRTs are expected to attend Sunday church
services. (Transportation will be provided).
Car keys will be turned in at registration.
Weekends: SRTs are under the supervision
of Alpine staff during weekends. Adventure
activities will be planned on Saturdays that
are part of the SRT experience. Each Sunday
SRTs will visit a local church. Parental
consent is required before an SRT can leave
the camp property for any other reason.
Cost: The cost of the SRT program is $65
and must be paid upon check-in. This fee will
provide for special activities, snack shop, a Tshirt, food, lodging, and leadership training.
A modest amount of spending money may be
needed for laundry, incidentals, etc. Money
may be banked at Alpine for safekeeping.
College Exposure: SRTs are encouraged
to consider attending a Bible college as part
of their ongoing personal development. The
SRT program provides excellent occasions
for young people to see the ministry of
Appalachian Bible College up close and to
learn more about opportunities at ABC.
