Family Front Kathy Scott, Director of Children & Family Ministries We are up and running with our new check-in system for kids: birth through 6th grade. Parents: be sure to stop at the kiosk in the parlor to check in your kids on the computers and print out the tags. You will be given a key fob and a pin number for easy check in. Stickers will be printed for easy identification and pickup. When you pick up your preschoolers, please check them out at the kiosk. We will have helpers at the kiosks to help you through this process at first. Preschool and children’s teachers we need you to check in and get stickers, too. This is another step for better security and safety for our kids while here at church. Thank you, for your help in making us better! I would like to invite parents to be a part of our KIDZONE worship once a month. You would be helpers during the 11 AM worship hour for supervision and assisting with small group activities. All of this would be planned already, we just need some extra hands to carry out the activities. There is a sign-up sheet available at the gym. Please take time to sign up to help if you are not already committed to help in other 11 AM worship leading activities. UPCOMING EVENTS FOR KIDS AND FAMILIES Children’s Ministry Day will be Saturday, February 18. Our kids (1st-6th grade) will be participating in ministry projects around the area. We will start at 8:30 am at the church. We will then travel to the Missouri State Veterans Home to play games and sing for them. Please bring new men’s tube socks to donate. Also bring a sack lunch; we will provide the drinks. This is for 1st-6th grade kids. Kindergartners will need to bring a parent along. Other parents are welcome, too! We plan to finish up with a clean-up project here at church and be done by 2 PM. Girls on Mission Retreat, March 10-11 (for girls 1st-6th grade) and RA congress, April 14-15 (for boys 1st-6th grade) is coming up soon. Partnering with you to help our kids KNOW CHRIST AND MAKE HIM KNOWN. Prime Time Gloria Fox, Director of Senior Adults & Bible Study Elvis has left the building, but we sure had a good time. Thanks to those who came, laughed, and sang karaoke with us. A good time was had by all at the Valentine Banquet. Our next trip is a “fowl” one, eagles and fried chicken. The bus will leave church at 9 AM on Thursday, February 23, for the Audubon center followed by a fried chicken lunch at Pere Marquette. The cost of lunch is $15 plus a dollar for bus gasoline. A sign-up sheet is on the Prime Time bulletin board. Upcoming events include a Friday night at the Florissant Civic Center to see To Kill a Mockingbird, the St. Louis Art Museum and the Spaghetti Factory and a 3-day trip to Kansas City. Check the Prime Time bulletin board for more details. These events are perfect times to invite your friends and neighbors to join us. Hope you will take the time to invite them. Music Musings Bible Study Corner Pastor differentiated between service and "serve us" this week in his sermon. I have some opportunities for adult Bible Study leaders, ushers, and greeters if you feel God is calling you to serve. Please let me know. Most transformation groups are up and running. Those involved are reporting God's rich blessings. It is not too late to get involved. Groups are still forming. God wants you to grow to become a disciple who makes disciples. A new topical study will begin on March 5, at 10:10 entitled Not a Fan. This study differentiates between fans and followers of Jesus. If you want to become a real follower, plan on attending. A sign-up sheet is on the Connect bulletin board by the Welcome Center. The command of the week is to "honor God's law". This command is found in Matthew 5:17-19. Jesus did not come to abolish the law (the old covenant/the 10 commandments). Instead he came to fulfill it. How can we fulfill the law? By yielding to the Holy Spirit and allowing Him to work in us. This doesn't mean we will live sinless lives but that Christ lives out His life through us by the power of His Spirit. Are you honoring God's law? You are commanded to. Chi Alpha News Andrew Yakel, Minister to Students & Outreach Ember – Friday, March 10 Join us for live worship, big games, and exciting teaching! This month our speaker is going to be Sarah Turner! You are not going to want to miss this night! More details coming soon! Small Groups – Wednesday nights at 6:15 pm Youth Small Groups are a time for discipleship where students connect with each other and loving adults as they talk about the Bible together. This is a great chance each week for students to be confronted with the Bible and challenged in their faith. Each week we also have a reading plan to go along with our Small Group lessons. You can find the small group reading plans under the Downloads section of the church website. Parents, encourage your students to read this each week and I would encourage you to read it along with them! Warner Offering Has your student ever gone on a mission trip with us? Over the past several years we have been blessed to be able to serve in Oklahoma, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Louisiana, and Ukraine! On each of those trips, and many others, our church members have been given money to help them go on these trips from the Tom and Lela Warner Short Term Missions Fund. On Sunday, February 26, we have our annual offering for this fund. Please pray about what you can give towards this fund that will continue to send our people all over the country and world to share the Gospel! DNOW – April 7-9 DNOW is coming!! April 7-9 we will be learning how to live Fearless lives! More details coming soon! Upcoming Dates: March 10 – Ember March 27 – Bandanas Fundraiser April 7-9 – DNOW April 22 – Shred Truck Fundraiser Ronna Paden, Director of Music Community Choir Sign-up Please indicate your interest in being part of our community choir by signing the list posted on the bulletin board in the hallway outside the choir room. Also, please give an email or phone number that is best for contacting you. We will have an organizational meeting on Sunday, February 19, at 4 PM in the choir room. Remember this choir is mainly for community missions activities to bring joy and hope to persons residing in medical and/or retirement facilities as well as being available for community events. The choir will meet for about three months in the spring and again for three months in the fall. Singers do NOT need to be members of our church, so feel free to invite friends and neighbors who attend other churches or who do not attend church to come to this organizational meeting. The music repertoire for this choir will be accessible, upbeat and reflect a variety of styles. The Last Words of David Our 9 a.m. choir has been singing a diverse repertoire. So many members of our congregation have so kindly expressed appreciation for our wonderful choir. The choir will soon be singing a choral classic by Randall Thompson entitled The Last Words of David. As the title suggests, this work is based on the last words of David as written in 2 Samuel 23:3,4: He that ruleth over men must be just. Ruling in the fear of God. And he shall be as the light of the morning When the sun riseth, Even a morning without clouds; As the tender grass springing out of the earth by clear shining after rain. Alleluia. Amen. Surely this timely text supports our longing in these times for a leadership which is JUST and GOD FEARING. Mission Offering February 26 is “Volunteer in Missions Sunday”. A special offering will be received for the “Tom & Lela Warner Short-Term Mission Scholarship Fund”. This fund is used to help sponsor our members who participate in short-term mission projects or trips. Make checks payable to Fee Fee Baptist Church (please indicate that they are for the Tom & Lela Warner Fund). Birth Congratulations to Ben and Phyllis Hackney on the birth of their granddaughter, Hazel Eileen Rogers, on February 9. Her proud parents are Nathaniel and Holly Rogers.
