Set Up a Test to use Lexile Scores from Achieve 3000
If you wish to use Achieve 3000 and Lexile Scores you should use a Single Question - Rubric strategy in Performance Matters.
Step 2 Create a Question:
Below is a question that has been added to Performance Matters. If you wish to use this question,
you may. If you want to create another question, please follow the Step 2, Option 3 tips on how
to create a single “Performance-Based” question.
Question ID 1654134 has been written as “Students will increase their lexile scores as
demonstrated in Achieve 3000. Scores will increase by a given percentage within a school
year. (Keep in mind that you will write the specific numeric increases in the SGO cover
sheet and select appropriate increases when setting up the SLO activation in Performance
Matters.)
Step 3 Create a Test:
1. Go to SAM or My Tests
2. Click on Create a New Test
3. Type in the test name, Test Source = From Items, Number of questions = 1, Course Subject =
Language Arts, SAVE!!!
4. Go to the GEAR in the right corner, Click on Open Classic Test Editor.
5. Click on the grade levels this test applies to.
6. Click on View Test Content
7. Click on Add Test Elements
8. Under Question ID Type in the number of your question or the ID 1654134
9. Click on Filter
10. C lick on the Question in the left column, click on the right arrow and click on Save and Close.
11. Click on Lock Test.
12. Close all open windows, return to SAM or My Tests.

13. Locate your test, located the column “Answer Key” click on View / Edit.
14. Once the key loads, locate and click on the gear that is on the interior (NOT the upper right
gear). NOTE! If you already have a Test Event, you will NOT see the gear.
15. Make sure it is a Brief Constructed Response
16. Choose a Point Value of 61
17. Choose the Rubric “Lexile Scores ALL - By 25”
18. Align it to a curriculum strand.
19. Click on Save
20. Click on the RED X, Click on the RED X, REFRESH!
Note that now your test has an answer key. Go onto Create a Test Event.
Create A Test Event
1. Go to SAM, Find your test.
2. Locate the column that says “Test Events” (under SAM or My Tests)
3. Click on Create - or if the VIEW/EDIT button is available, click on that and then edit existing
Test Events. If clicking on View/Edit, then click on the Test Event ID as well.
4. UNCheck PM Answer Sheets
5. CHECK include in Weighted Average, Include in Baseball Card.
6. BM Column - if this is the benchmark, choose BM 1 (Benchmark 1)
7. CHECK Online Scoring and All Question Types
8. SAVE
9. Choose your Test Population (Click on Link, select your class, click on Save)
10. Release to Schools (Click on Select All, Click on Save).
Notes: To “Un”release this to schools, delete the test event (SAM / My Test - find the test, click
on the test events, click on the red X to delete it).
Benchmark 1 - Use the baseline Lexile score in Achieve 3000.
