ALL THAT JAZZ!

ALL THAT JAZZ!

Jazz Is!
This thing called jazz is a style you should know.
Started in America many years ago.
Music was performed in a brand new way,
Swinging rhythms! Blue notes! Hey! Hey! Hey!
Instruments improvised, and then talked back.
Everybody had a chance to take a whack.
Scatting was a way that voice joined the mix.
Horns. . . then bass. . Wow, did it kick!
Louis, Benny, Ella. . . Bird, Coltrane
Played and sang jazz again and again,
Now it’s time for others to try their hand,
In making jazz heard all across this land.
Humpty Dumpty
(Original)
Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall.
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.
All the King’s horses and all the King’s men,
Couldn’t put Humpty together again.

Steppin’ Into Jazz
Humpty Dumpty 1
Humpty Dumpty was good lookin’
Humpty Dumpty had it all.
Humpty Dumpty tried to text me.
Then Ol’ Humpty had a fall.
Humpty 2
All the King’s men came to help him.
There was little they could do.
Tried to put him back together,
Using different kinds of glue.
Humpty 3
There’s a lesson we should learn here,
There is something you should know.
Stop the texting when you’re walkin’
Or you’ll fall deep down below.
Mary Had A Little Lamb
Mary had a little lamb,
It’s fleece was white as snow;
And everywhere that Mary went,
The lamb was sure to go.
Mary 2
It followed her to school one day,
It was against the rules.
It made the children laugh and play,
To see the lamb at school.
Mary 3
And so the teacher turned it out,
But still it lingered near,
And waited patiently about
‘Til Mary did appear.
Mary 4
“Why does the lamb love Mary so?”
The eager children cry;
“Why Mary loves the lamb, you know,”
The teacher did reply.
Mary Had A Little . . .
Mary had a little puppy,
Fluffy, soft and white as snow,
Put the puppy in her backpack,
Then to school they both did go.
Mary Had. . . 2
All the children came to pet her.
They told Mary, “Oh how sweet!”
Then the teacher told the children,
“All of you please take your seat.”
Mary Had . . . 3
“There’s a rule that must be made clear.
It is one you all should know,
Dogs and cats are not allowed here,
Little doggie has to go.”
Mary Had ….4
Then the teacher told Miss Mary,
Mom and Dad will have to know,
They must come and get the puppy,
Until then he has to go.
Mary Had . . . 5
I will call your Mom and Daddy,
They will come and get your pet,
Meanwhile you must go to office
You’ll be fine, you need not fret.

Autumn Leaves
The autumn leaves are gently falling,
I see them drifting all around.
They turn to yellow, red and orange
I see them drifting to the ground.
Now they’ve gone away, the days grow cold
I often hear old winter’s song
But I’ll see them grow again in springtime,
Then change once more in the Fall.
