2014 Northwestern Mutual Foundation Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Poetry Contest November 27– December 17, 2013 THEME: “I am the dream” Poetry Contest Rules 1. Please submit an original poem based on the above theme with the attached cover sheet. 2. Poem must be no longer than 350 words. 3. Deadline for submission is December 17, 2013. 4. The top three winners in each age category will be selected based on how well the poem reflects the theme and will be notified by December 20th. 5. The top three finalists in each category will record their poems at Jammin 98.3 radio station on Monday, December 30, 2013. Students should report to 5407 W. McKinley Avenue. The winner will be determined based on community votes received through the online voting option plus results from original scoring sheets. The poems will be displayed and aired on the Jammin 98.3 website January 1st, 2014- January 13, 2014. 6. The 1st place winner will have their poems displayed in the MLK program and will be recognized at the 2014 MLK Breakfast on January 20th. 7. Winners will receive a plaque and gift courtesy of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. 8. Winners plus two guests will be invited to attend the 2014 Martin Luther King, Jr. Breakfast on Monday, January 20, 2014 sponsored by the YMCA of Metropolitan Milwaukee. 9.
