Helping sick and disabled children THEODORA ASSOCIATION RED NOSES ON INTERNATIONAL DAY By : Muriel Bembamba, Aindrilla Chander, Charlotte Gilet, Laura Taylor “Theodora means “gift of God”. For my brother and me it was the name of our mother”, said André Poulie, the Founder of the Theodora Children’s Charity. It develops the feeling of self – security and confidence within the child, even if for only a moment, they are able to distance themselves from their loneliness and experience happiness. Established in 1993, Theodora Foundation has been determined to relieve the pain and suffering of all the children who have to stay in hospitals and specialized institutions for a long time by cheering and making them laugh. Living in the hospital alone is difficult for all children; they lose contact with their family, friends, relatives and have to mingle into an unfamiliar surrounding at the same time. These are the moments where Theodora Foundation comes forward to bring to these children hospital clown doctors with a “Red Nose” to give them warmth and comfort of a joyful environment. Our goal as a community in ISP is to assist Theodora in their visits of Hospital Clowns for all the children who need our help to develop their strength, confidence and “a smile.” This is an introduction to our plan for this year. In Spring, we would organize Red Nose Day, a day that Hence, we have come together to organize the “Red Nose Day” event in our school. We will sell Red Noses at a stall on International Day. We need your valuable contribution towards this generous initiative by raising funds and buying a Red Nose for 2€ only! would bring joy and humour to us all in memory of the warm feelings that Theodora left for all the children in this world. On this occasion, we would build a stall not only to sell Red Noses, but also present you with rich and entertaining makeup sessions, comical photos and a lot more. You can also wear masks and disguises for the day and click snaps which will be sent to all those children who are waiting eagerly in the hospital, rightly deserving a gentle welcome and a smile! We thank you all for coming forward as a community for your generosity and aiding us and Theodora on their journey with children all around the world. On International Day, let us all be International Clowns and create a memory to unite ourselves with all these children in the hospital bringing them “magical moments” in their life. http://tr.theodora.org/en‐gb/ours‐missions http://uk.theodora.org/en‐gb/news‐and‐events/who‐was‐theodora
