NOVEMBER 3, DAY 1 DEPART USA
Depart on an overnight flight to Rome. Dinner and breakfast are served
on the plane.
NOVEMBER 4, DAY 2 OSTIA ANTICA-SIENA
Arrive in Rome, complete customs and immigration processing, proceed
to pick up your luggage and meet guide who will escort you to the bus.
We start our touring program with a visit to the ancient Ostia representing one of the most important archaeological areas in the world. After a
tour of Ostia Antica with a private guide we board our motorcoach and
drive through the Tuscan countryside to Siena for a welcome dinner at a
local restaurant, then on to Castelo di Montalto. Overnight at the castle.

NOVEMBER 5, DAY 3 ASSISI
Journey to the hilltop village of Assisi, home of St. Francis and St. Clare.
We explore the city and visit both Basilicas as well as San Damiano,
before driving to the valley to see St. Mary of the Angels Basilica. Return
to Montalto Castle for a pasta cooking class. (Breakfast and Dinner
at the Castle.)
NOVEMBER 6, DAY 4 SIENA
Journey along Lake Trasimento to Siena, a gothic city constructed on
three hills in the heart of the region of Tuscany. This monumental and
medieval city is encircled by its ancient walls and is famous for its
splendid square the Piazza del Campo, designed in the shape of a shell.
Every year the famous “Palio” takes place in the square. Afternoon at
leisure to explore on your own. We also see the Church of St. Dominic to
see relics of St. Catherine. Overnight at the Castle. (Breakfast at the
Castle, Dinner is on your own at the Castle.)
NOVEMBER 7, DAY 5 CORTONA
This morning we head to the local Medieval township of Cortona, the
setting for the movie and book “Under the Tuscan Sun”. See Il Museo
dell’Accademia Etrusca and visit some boutiques, art galleries, stroll to
the “high point” and visit Chiesa di Santa Margherita, where the Saint’s
remains are encased on the altar. After lunch, we tour the San Felice
vineyard and winery and stop for some local produce before returning to
the castle for a cooking class using some of the ingredients we’ve picked
up during the day. (Breakfast and Dinner at the Castle.)
NOVEMBER 8, DAY 6 FLORENCE
All day is dedicated to Florence, the “Cradle of the Renaissance.” Visit the
Academy of fine arts with Michelangelo’s celebrated statues of David
and see the magnificent Cathedral. Admire Giotto’ Bell Tower and the
Baptistery’s heavy bronze “Gate of Paradise” doors. A short walk takes us
to the sculpture-studded Piazza della Signoria Square and Holy Cross
Church where famous Italians such as Michelangelo are buried. In the
afternoon explore the open-air market where you can shop for local
handmade goods and San Lorenzo food market. Don’t forget to visit the
Ponte Vecchio, which as the name indicates is the city’s oldest bridge.
Tonight’s dinner is at a local farm. Overnight at the Castle. (Breakfast at
the Castle, Special dinner)

NOVEMBER 9, DAY 7 PIENZA-MONTEPULCIANO
Today we visit a farm near Pienza, the town famous for its production of Pecorino
Cheese, made from an especially flavorsome and aromatic milk thanks to sheep
pastures in Val d’Orcia. We enjoy a tour and cheese tasting. Continue to the hillside
town of Montepulciano, which is known for its culinary delights. Renowned for its
port, cheese, “Pici” pasta, lentils, and honey, it is perhaps most well-known for its
wine. Visit to the Sanctuario de San Baigio, Palazzo Tarugim and Santa Marie della
Grazia. Shop, taste, and have fun as we explore the local wineries and shops to buy
goodies to bring back to cook at the castle. (Breakfast and Dinner at the Castle.)
NOVEMBER 10, DAY 8 WINE CATHEDRAL-SAN GIMIGNANO
This morning is at leisure to explore the Castle or just relax. We stop at the “Cathedral
of Wine” in Bargino before arriving in San Gimignano, a charming walled medieval
hill town in the province of Siena. Enjoy a wonderful dinner of typical Tuscan foods
and wine sampling in a lovely setting. We return to the Castle Montalto for an
overnight. (Breakfast at the Castle, Special dinner in San Gimignano. )
NOVEMBER 11, DAY 9 SIENA-ORVIETO-ROME
Following an early breakfast, we board our motorcoach and travel to Umbria and the
lovely hill town of Orvieto. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant with tasting of the famous
Orvieto Classico wine from this region. We see Italy’s most beautiful Cathedral with
its amazing façade of mosaics and interior art and we see the relic of the Eucharistic
miracle. Overnight in Rome. (B. Dinner is on your own.)
NOVEMBER 12, DAY 10 ROME
Today we start the day with a Mass at Santa Maria in Tresetevere followed by a
culinary tour during which we enjoy a “Gourmet Rome “food tour which takes us off
the beaten path to experience the real taste of the city and its food as we discover the
local secrets become and become immersed in its rich history, culture and architecture. We return to Rome, where we visit the Vatican Museum for a tour of the
museum including the Sistine Chapel, to view the world-famous painting of the Last
Judgment Overnight in Rome. (B. Dinner is on your own.)
NOVEMBER 13, DAY 11 ROME
We visit St Peter’s Square and Basilica. Next, we walk to Campo Fiore food market to
see where Romans shop for fresh food. Following lunch, the rest of your day is at
leisure. Tonight we enjoy a festive farewell dinner with wine in an amazing Roman
restaurant. Overnight Rome. (Breakfast, Special Dinner.)
NOVEMBER 14, DAY 12 RETURN TO THE U.S.A

The seats are assigned by the airlines. We do not reserve specific seats. You may change your seat,
provide frequent flier information and passenger contact information directly with the airlines once the ticket numbers are received (approximately three weeks prior to departure). All special needs and requests due to medical or dietary restrictions must be requested in writing at
least 60 days prior to departure. Business class and premium coach seats are available upon request, as are add-ons from your airport.
A limited number of single rooms are available for an additional $595.00 per person. Prices are based on two people per
room. We do not GTD roommates but will do our best to connect you with a possible share.
$2,795 per person cash price. Land-only services start and end at the hotels, unless you are able to meet the group at the
airport. There are very few land-only options available.
Each participant is permitted to check (1) suitcase weighing no more than 50 lbs., and one small carry-on bag on the plane. Baggage fees are not included. Please check the specific airline baggage fees on their website.
$350 of the deposit is non-refundable. 90-60 days before departure a total of $1,000 is non-refundable. Within 60
days of departure, all payments are non-refundable regardless of reason for cancellation. All cancellations must be in writing. Unused portions of the trip are not refundable.
