HELEN KELLER AND ME By Alyssa INTRODUCTION Helen Keller is an activist for the blind. An activist is a person who works for change. Helen Keller used effort, motivation, and persistence to change the way people thought of herself and others who are blind. They motivated Helen to learn how to communicate with others. Communication is sharing information, ideas or feelings with another person. Helen became an activist and traveled to other countries to give speeches and work for the American Association for the Blind. An activist is someone who works for change. Helen showed effort, motivation and persistence to change the way others thought of the blind and deaf. HELEN KELLER AND ME Helen Keller and I have both persisted and didn’t let anything stand in our way of achieving our goals. Helen Keller persisted and achieve her goal of communicating with others. I have persisted and didn’t let anyone stand in my way of achieving my goal of learning how to ride my bike. This is a picture of Helen Keller. MY ACCOMPLISHMENT This is how I learned how to ride a bike and achieve my goal. First I started on the grass. My Mom held on to me and I told her to let go. Also I practiced every Wednesdays after dinner. I practice a lot! Then I started riding my bike on the street but first I needed to learn how to start. My Dad said put one foot on the pedal that’s up and push of onto the one that’s down. I tried but I fell of my bike. The next time my mom held on to me very softly and I did it and I Tried by myself and I did it! I started biking on the rode and that’s how I learned how to ride my bike and accomplish my goal. CONCLUSION Helen Keller and I both persistent to achieve our goals. Helen Keller persisted to become an activist for the blind and I persisted to learn how to ride my bike.
