Purchase orders can be raised with line discounts applied at the time of the line entry on to the order.
accommodate up to a four-chain discount using the four discount fields displayed on the line entry panel.

The chain-discount applies the first discount to the price, the result of which has the second discount applied, the result of
which has the third discount applied, the result of which has the fourth discount applied. This is not the same as totalling the
discounts and applying the total discount to the price.
For example
£100 with a chain discount of 10%, 5%, 2.5%, 1% is calculated as followed:

= £90.00
= £85.50
= £83.3625
= £82.5289
£100 with a total discount of 18.5% (from 10+5+2.5+1):
£ 100.00 - 18.5%
= £81.50

The discounted price is applied to the purchase order and will be the expected cost of the product at GRN.
When the order line is matched in purchase
invoice posting, the initial display shows the line
discounts applied.
When the quantity invoiced is entered, the cost
is calculated to show the true cost. The Cost
can be overtyped and the discount fields used to
enter different discount percentages as required.

The price book routine within Supplier Maintenance also supports the use of up to four-chain line discounts. For more
information about Price Books, please see How to...Use Price Books (Doc ID: 0021).
If less discounts fields are required in any of the routines, they can be profiled out using the Profile Editor. Please ask your
System Administrator to remove or redisplay discount fields (see Doc ID: 0008 SA How to… Use Profile Editor).
