MyFuture+ is a unique, web-based programme that
links people engaged in career development with their
professional careers advisors or tutors. Using their online
Career File, learners and jobseekers gain access to a suite of
helpful activities and tools that encourage self-reflection and
support career learning, planning and development.

Service providers using MyFuture+ have instant access
to their clients/learners’ Career File and progress, and can
use the career tools to assist in achieving goals and specific
outcomes.

How it Works - Service Providers
• Service providers receive administrator Access codes and login details to start using the service.
• The service provider provides this access code along with instructions on using the programme
to clients/learners.
• Administrators login to the application to monitor their clients/learners’ progress and view
their Career Profile, and use this information to further guide the career planning and decision
process.
How it Works - Clients/Learners
• Clients/learners recieve an Access code to create a personal MyFuture+ account.
• They use the Apps and tools provided as directed by their service, and begin creating their
personal Career Profile.
• They can access their personal account and build their profile at any time they have internet
access on any computer or mobile device.
• Their MyFuture account, and its associated Career Profile remain with them for the duration of
their time with the service provider. Once this ceases, their account remains available to them
(but not the service provider) as a standard CareersPortal account.
• Client/learners may opt to make their Career Profile available to multiple service providers or
none as they choose - the account is transferrable.
MyFuture+ FURTHER EDUCATION
This programme is designed for use in colleges/centres of further education where the learners are
organised into groups with assigned Tutors. Learners work under the supervision and guidance of
their tutor and staff assigned to career planning and development. The suite of tools and resources
can include relevant QQI modules as delivered by the provider. Learners are assigned to the
programme for a fixed period (max 2 years).

Service providers utilise a shared college/center account to manage learners into class groups where individual
student progress can be monitored.
MyFuture+ NEXT STEPS
This programme is designed for use in services and organisations providing one-to-one education
and employment support. Clients are assigned to an individual staff member, who uses the
resources to support the clients’ career planning and goal setting. The clients remain on the
programme for as long as is necessary to support them in the pre-employment and career
decision-making process.

Administrators manage and view the progress
of individuals assigned to them only. A top level
Administrator role also exists that allows access to
limited information from the entire service provider (e.g.
those who express interest in a particular career sector).

Career Apps
Career Sectors – allows clients to record their interest in any of 33 Career Sectors that comprise the World
of Work. Each sector is described in detail with relevant up-to-date careers information, live news feeds, live
jobs feeds, latest Labour Market Information and career advice from experts on working in the sector.
Career Interests Profiler – self-assessment exercise designed to identify personal career interests, and match
these to specific job roles from the National Occupational Database. The profiler produces a printable report,
and can also be used to match Further Ed and Higher Ed courses.
Career Skills Profiler – self-assessment designed to introduce and obtain a measure of development across
26 key employability skills. Clients are encouraged to describe where, when and how skills were developed,
and identify how skills that are less well developed might be worked on.
CareerPad – an online notepad that can be used to record any research undertaken. Can be used to
store documents such as cover letters, CVs, QQI assignments, to-do lists, links to useful websites, etc. The
CareerPad can store up to twenty documents at any one time.
Personality Profiler - a simple self-assessment exercise to introduce the idea of personality. Based on the 4 temperment types, this should assist in discerning personal differences and how they may impact on career
choice.
Multiple Intelligences - a practical self-assessment questionnaire that helps people develop a broader
understanding of intelligence and encourages people to look at their strengths in a different way in relation
to their career.
CV Builder - includes a number of resources and tips for producing a top class CV along with an online
wordprocessor to create and store the document. A link is provided to access the ‘Europass CV’ also, if
preferred.
Cover Letter Builder - includes a number of resources and tips for producing an excellent cover letter.
Includes an online wordprocessor to create and store the document.
QQI Work Experience - a template based tool to complete the portfolio / collection of work required for
assessment of work experience modules at Levels 3, 4 and 5. Once completed, the entire report can be cut
and pasted into the students’ own word document for final formatting, or printed directly from this App.
QQI Career Planning - a template based tool to complete the portfolio / collection of work required for
Level 4 Career Planning module. Once the sections are completed, the entire report can be cut and pasted
into the students own word document for final formatting, or printed directly from this App.
Career Tools
Career Research – a series of articles and resources providing an overview of the process of researching
careers that meets the clients/learners needs.
Job Profiles – search the National Occupational database of approx 1,000 occupations. Users can save
selected occupations to their Career Library for quick access at any stage. Occupational data includes
characteristics of the job, skills required, typical earnings, educational pathways and live job searches. Career Videos - engaging videos of people working in Ireland telling the story of their career path so far
and talking about their current job. Provides excellent insight into a wide range of careers and the diversity
of workplaces in the Irish world of work.
Finding Jobs - a series of articles and resources providing an overview of the process of finding jobs in
Ireland. Includes live job searches, and links to major online job boards. This research can be saved if wished
in the CareerPad.
Courses - provides an overview of the types of courses available in Ireland and links to all major online
course databases, including CareersPortal, Qualifax, Fetchcourses, Springboard+ and government upskilling
courses.
