ShegraduatedinMechanicalEngineering(beforeD.M.509/1999cameintoforce),summacum
laude, in 2003, at the University of Calabria. The final dissertation was about the numerical
characterization of the intake system of a high performances internal combustion engine, by
theCFDcommercialcodeFLUENT.
In2010,sheattainedherPh.DdegreeinMechanicalEngineeringattheUniversityofCalabria.
The research activity focused on the development of numerical techniques for the
computation of complex flow involved in ships hydrodynamics. The title of the final
dissertation is "CFD Investigation of the Seakeeping Behavior of a Catamaran Advancing in
Regular Waves by an Unsteady RANS Code ". ADVISORS: Prof. Ing. Sergio Bova-Dept. of
Mechanical Engineering-University of Calabria; Prof. Ing. Frederick Stern - Iowa Institute of
HydraulicResearch,Iowa(USA).
During the Ph.D., she spent 6 months in Iowa and collaboration with the Iowa Institute of
HydraulicResearch(IIHR-USA),wasundertaken.InIowashestudiedthenumericaltechniques
in the simulations of ships hydrodynamics problems, under the supervision of Prof. Frederick
Stern.Thecollaborationisongoing.Sheisactuallyworkingonthevalidationofnumericalcode
for course-keeping simulations of high-speed multi-hull vessels, within research projects
fundedbytheU.S.NavythroughtheOfficeofNavalResearch.
Since2010to2015,shecollaborated(coordinatefreelancecollaboration)withtheDepartment
of Mechanical, Energy and Management Engineering (DIMEG)-University of Calabria. The
research activity focuses on the use and validation of numerical techniques for the
computation of complex flow involved in ships hydrodynamics and Internal Combustion
Engines applications. In particular, the activity focuses on the hydrodynamic study of marine
vehiclesinrealisticoperatingconditions,on1D/3Dnumericalanalysisoftheintakesystemof
innovative internal combustion engines and on the characterization of global efficiency and
flow field analysis inside the combustion chamber. She is involved in a project with ElasisPowertrain, for the development and assessment, by MATLAB-Simulink tool, of a zerodimensional model for internal combustion engines cooling systems, in presence of nucleate
boiling. May 2014-July 2014: Visiting scholar at IIHR-IOWA INSTITUTE OF HYDRAULIC RESEARCH-
UNIVERSITYOFIOWA-IOWA-USA.Theresearchactivityfocusedontheseakeepingbehaviorof
theKCS(Kriso-ContainerShip).
Actually she is research fellow at the Department of Mechanical, Energy and Management
Engineering (DIMEG)-University of Calabria. She is involved in a project developed in
collaboration with the Iowa Institute of Hydraulic Research, IIHR-USA and regards
HydrodynamicstudyoftheKrisoContainership(KCS)underseakeepingconditions.
She got teaching assignments for Internal Combustion Engines and Hydralulics courses for
Master Degree students at the Department of Mechanical, Energy and Management
Engineering,UniversitàdellaCalabria.
She is reviewer for International Journals: Ocean Engineering; Engineering Applications of
Computational Fluid Mechanics ; Micro and nanosystems; Mechanical Systems and Signal
Processing.
