Is your number up?
From 1 August 2009, your transport service
licence (TSL) label must be displayed. This new
requirement applies to all vehicles operating
under a goods service, vehicle recovery service,
or passenger service licence.
Excluded are dial-a-driver and private hire vehicle services (such as
limousines) where drivers must carry their TSL details with them.
Goods, passenger and vehicle
recovery service vehicles must
have the TSL label displayed on
the windscreen at the bottom of
the passenger’s side.
Goods service vehicles only may
optionally display the TSL label in
the window behind the passenger
seat.
Why a label?
The TSL label is being introduced so that operators
who rent, lease, borrow or share vehicles can move
their details easily between vehicles.
Do I need to display a label?
From 1 August 2009, the Operator Licensing
Amendment Rule 2008 requires the following vehicles
to display a transport service licence (TSL) label:
• Taxis
• Shuttles
• Vehicle recovery vehicles
• Goods service vehicles (those with a GLW of
6000 kg or more)
• Large passenger service vehicles.
Trailers do not need a label.

Failure to display your TSL label by 1 August 2009
could result in unnecessary delays for drivers
while your TSL is checked. You could also be fined
between $400 and $10,000.
