SENTENCE FLUENCY: ❏ Your paper is not choppy. (Listing research bullet points – fact after fact) ❏ Your writing flows and you alternate between long/complex and short/simple sentences. ❏ Higher level transitions are included. PRESENTATION: ❏ Heading ❏ Creative Title ❏ Paragraphing PEER EDITING CHECKLIST: Read your partner’s essay ALOUD together and then DISCUSS the following with them: ❏ Spelling, punctuation, convention errors that stand out ❏ Their word choice can they use more creative words? Which ones? Try to stay away from using words like: fun, good, bad, etc. ❏ The beginning grabs your attention? What could they do to make sure it does? ❏ How does it sound when you read it aloud? Did you stumble over parts? Help them fix their sentence fluency. ❏ Do they use transitions? They need them. ❏ What parts are confusing and what do you not understand? Discuss what they need to fix to help with this. ❏ After reading, can you tell that your partner cares about their topic if you are unsure they need to convey it better. ❏ Anything else? … talk about two things that you really liked about their essay & one thing that they can improve on.
