The Eloquent Peasant An Allegory on the Banks of the Nile?

A Thames Valley Ancient Egypt Society Public Lecture
The Eloquent Peasant
An Allegory on the
Banks of the Nile?
By Dr Linda Steynor
Saturday Nov 8th 2014
1.30 for 2.00pm
Linda will explore the colourful imagery used in The Tale of the
Eloquent Peasant as the peasant battles against adversity. She
will show how his word-pictures develop as the poem progresses,
and how they offer an insight into an ancient Egyptian’s view of
himself and his place in society, raising issues as relevant now
as then.
