JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary
This volunteer position is responsible for creating a pool of volunteers for the Canoe
Journey and coordinating the job functions, activities, and logistics needed to support
the directives of the Canoe Journey Coordinator. This may include, but is not limited to
recruiting volunteers, working with the Ground Crew Lead, and coordinating logistics
with Canoe Skippers and other stakeholders. This volunteer position will receive a $500
stipend for their efforts upon conclusion of duties.
Essential Duties
1. Organize, coordinate and manage the recruitment of volunteers for the canoe
journey.
2. Able to travel July 23rd to August 10th 2017 to support Canoe Journey participants
from Jamestown to Campbell River, Canada.
3. Attend Canoe Family meetings and other coordination events and activities as
needed.
4. Maintain a contact list of volunteers.
5. Set up and attends volunteer meetings.
6. Directs volunteer staff in an organized and thoughtful manner.
7. Report to Canoe Journey Coordinator on volunteer activities as needed.
8. Drive a passenger van or similar vehicle as needed.

Current Passport or Enhanced Driver’s License (For travel to Canada)

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no direct staff supervisory responsibilities, but does supervise the
volunteer staff.
