An Act to provide for the closing of certain
level-crossings on the Government Railways,
and the substitution therefor of bridges,
subways, and other works ; to declare certain
portions of such bridges, subways, and works
to be public thoroughfares ; and for purposes
consequent thereon or incidental thereto.

E it enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with
the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative
Assembly of New South W a l e s in Parliament assembled, and by the
authority of the same, as follows:—
1. This Act m a y be cited as the " R a i l w a y s Crossings Act,
1000."
2. The Chief Commissioner for R a i l w a y s and T r a m w a y s m a y
close the several level-crossings over the Government R a i l w a y s
described in the first column of the Schedule to this Act.

On
On and after the publication in the Gazette of a notification
by the said Chief Commissioner that a n y such level-crossing is closed
under the authority of this Act, all rights-of-way on and over such
crossing shall be extinguished.
3. In a n y case where, by the said Schedule, works are to be
constructed in substitution for a level-crossing, the said Chief
Commissioner shall, before closing such level-crossing, provide and open
for public traffic the bridge or subway and other works mentioned
in the second column of the said Schedule, and set opposite to the
description of the said level-crossing, with suitable curves, grades, and
connections with thoroughfares.
So much of the lands comprising such bridge, subway, and works
as is not within the lines of the boundary fences of a Government
r a i l w a y is hereby declared to be a public thoroughfare.
