OverDrive for MP3 Players Overdrive Media Console is software that enables you to listen to Audiobooks on your computer and transfer them to a portable MP3 player. The guide below will help you get setup, downloading and transferring. What you need 1. A computer with: Windows® XP, Vista, 7, or 8 / Mac 10.6 (or newer) 2. Supported browser: Internet Explorer® 8 (or newer), Safari, Firefox® 3 (or newer), Chrome 3. Windows Media Player 9 (or newer) if using a Windows computer. 4. A compatible MP3 Player and the USB cable. Part 1 ‐ Setting up OverDrive Media Console 1. Open a web browser and go to the following address: http://omc.overdrive.com/ 2. Click on the Windows or Mac button and depending on your computer click Download for Windows / Download for Mac on the next page. When the download completes click on the file to begin the installation. You do not need to change any of the default settings. Part 2 – Using the catalogue 1. Open a web browser and go to the East Renfrewshire Libraries Digital Catalogue: http://eastren.lib.overdrive.com 2. Click SIGN IN and input your library card number and pin number. 3. From the catalogue homepage there are several ways for you to find a title to enjoy: 
Select a cover image from any of the lists. When you click on the cover, a new page will open with further details on your chosen title. 
Click a link from the Menu. The main menu is split into five sections; eBook Fiction, eBook Nonfiction, Children & Teen, Audiobook Fiction and Featured Collections. You can click on any of the categories. 
Search for something you want. Click on the search box and type an author, title or keyword. 4. You can quickly tell which Audiobook titles are available by the format icon in the top‐
right corner of a cover image. The headphones indicate an Audiobook and if a title isn’t available the icon will be greyed out. 5. Once you have selected a title, click BORROW. Your library bookshelf will open displaying the title(s) you have checked out. 6. Click DOWNLOAD to add the title to the OverDrive Media Console. 8. You can borrow a maximum of FOUR TITLES at one time. These loans do not count against the number of physical books you can borrow from the library. 9. You can renew items by going to your library Bookshelf and selecting the RENEW icon next to the title you'd like to renew. This option does not appear until three days before the title is supposed to expire. 8. From your ACCOUNT page, you can view your Holds, Lists (Wish List, Rated titles, and Recommendations), and change your lending period(s) from the Settings page. Part3 – Transferring titles 1. Open OverDrive Media Console (OMC) on your computer. 2. Select a title and click the Transfer button. 3. When the Transfer Wizard opens, connect your device to computer, and then click Next. 4. When your device is connected the CONFIRM screen is displayed. Click NEXT. If you are using an Apple device, make sure it is selected under player. 5. The title is transferred to your MP3 player. 6. If you are using an Apple device and see the following message, you need to set the ‘Manually manage music…’ option on your device through iTunes. 6. When you have that set, click OK to close the prompt and return to the Transfer Wizard. Click Cancel, then start again at Step 2. This is only necessary if you had to change the ‘Manually manage music…’ option. 7. When the transfer is complete, click Finish to close the wizard.
