It was very pleasing to see every player put in 100 percent and have that drive to want the ball. Finallly, all that training starting to pay off “no more Sponge Bobs’ looking into the sky, showing the same aggression we have against each other on training night and puttig it into action on game day. Josh, Nick, Ehtna K, and Mark were solid down back giving plenty of run out of defence. Angelo, Chuong and Flynn were strong in the middle running hard all day and Brodie and Keanu were lively across half forward giving plenty of drive into the forward line, considering there is no score kept in 9s and 10s and having no knowledge of who was up or down!! In my eyes, we won the game and I was inspired by the smiles and cheers when we sang the club song, which still needs a little work. Keep training hard 10s, your coach and parents are very proud of you. SEAGULLS! Eliza Redlegs William Grimshaw made his football debut and Sam Hartland played his 50th game. Running through the banner must have taken the wind out of the Seagulls as during the first quarter we looked a little flat. The Redlegs were first to the ball and at the first break they had open up the few goal lead. From the second quarter the game tightened up. Chelsea lifted rate. Aaron and Ben were winning the ball out of defence and ballers kept pushing the ball forward. Our first goal for the day our best for the season – we ran the ball the full length of the three kicks. their work our onwas one of ground in The final three quarters were very even with both teams playing good footy. When the final siren sounded Mt. Eliza took the win – the winning margin was just below their first quarter lead! Well done Seagulls. Please remember to play your zones during the day as Mt. Eliza got a few easy kicks and we at times struggled to move the ball forward due to the holes created by us chasing kicks. Congratulations to Sam Hartland on achieving 50 games for Chelsea Seagulls. Then, in 20 minutes we let Chelsea YCW kick 5 goals to nil and the game was over. We lifted out workdate after half time and were very competittive for the rest of the game. We still need to work on our talk and communication on the ground especially in the back half.
