The Hitching Post November 2016 Barn Bash Results We held our annual fundraiser Barn Bash on October 15! About 125 people came to the event. They had a great time, enjoyed a good meal, danced to live music, and supported us by participating in the silent auction and Horse Fund-Racer. We raised $13,200 and Power Play won the Race! We want to thank everyone who prepared the event and acquired all the necessary items. A special thank you to the LDJ Band for the great music! Our Gold Sponsors were: Country Chiropractic, D & L Feed, James Wood, Major League Realty and Ranchman’s. UPCOMING EVENTS: Our thanks go out to everyone who attended and all those who worked so hard to insure the event went smoothly. November 24th is Thanksgiving – enjoy the eating and fellowship. December 13th is National Day of the Horse. In conjunction with that day, we are going to select the RU Horse of the Year. Attached to this newsletter is a ballot. Please vote for your choice. His job at the ranch eventually will be to protect our therapy givers from wildlife at the ranch. Tony is quite friendly and enjoys attention. Therefore, if you hear an unusual sound at the Ranch it will probably Tony talking to people or other four-legged friends. Remember to be careful around him so no one gets injured. A poor farmer near Jeerusalem owned a donkey far too small to do much work at all. He felt that he couldn’t afford to feed a worthless animal like this, one that could do him no good whatsover, so at the supper table he told his family that he was going to kill the donkey. His children, who loved the little donkey, begged him to sell it rather than harm it. But the famer said, “It’s wrong to sell an animal that can’t do a good day’s work.” Then his oldest daughter suggested, “Father, tie the donkey to a tree on the road to town, and say whoever wants it may take it for nothing.” And the next morning, that’s what the farmer did. Soon, two men approached and asked if they could have the donkey. “It can carry almost nothing,” the farmer warned them. Jesus of Nazareth has need of it,” replied one of the men. The farmer couldn’t imagine what 2 a great teach would want with such aworthless donkey, but he handed it over. The men took the animal to Jesus, who stroked the grateful dnokey’s face and then mounted it and rode away. So it was on the day we call Palm Sunday, Jesus led his followers into the city of Jerusalem riding on the back of a small, common donkey. The donkey so loved his gentl master that he later followed him to Calvary. Grief-stricken by the sight of Jesus on the cross, the donkey turned away but couldn’t leave. It was then that the shadow of the cross fell upon the shoulders and back of the donkey, and there it stayed. All donkeys have borne the sign of the cross on their backs since that very day. We would like to include a parent/client as a member of the Board because of the valuable input that can be made with a very personal viewpoint. Our board is responsible for many things, i.e. the ranch itself (trustees), administering policies, financial resources, personnel, public/community relations, evaluates how the organization is operating and other responsibilities that come up. The Board is open to suggestions from our clients, volunteers and staff. Contact any board member or Pat Dellemann. By the way, our Board President is Terry Williams – he is also a volunteer extraordinairre.
