Introduction to Leonardo Da Vinci
Da Vinci was born in a very small town called Vinci. Since when he
was very young, he was talented at painting and building. He started
to become a painter when his teacher, Verrochio acknowledged him
as an artist. At the early years, he painted calm things at Florence of
Italy. But then, he got a letter from the duke of Milan for him to
make weapons to defend the country. Then, he got better ideas from
making weapons, so he started painting strong painting that showed
his mind. But his techniques never changed.
The first thing Da Vinci does in painting
The first thing that Leonardo Da Vinci does in painting is
that he would create a very detailed underpainting with
grey and brown. That helped him paint the drawing in
better colors.
The Second thing Da Vinci does in painting
The next step, Da Vinci would apply his colors in
transparent glazes on top. Some of the underpainting
should show through the layers, subtly helping to create
form.
Final technique
Finally, he would put the paint on his palette with dark
colors like brown, green, and blue. Then, paint the rest of
the colors. Leonardo Da Vinci would not use intense colors
or contrasts.
