Reviewing vocabulary game: each student will get a vocabulary word or a definition on a notecard. The object of the game is to find your match 3.

Students will read two separate articles about the Mauryan Empire and Emperor Asoka on their own (one from a textbook and one from the Internet). Students will then be asked to answer a series of questions with their partner: i. Use the words bureaucracy, subject, and tolerance to describe Maurya government. ii.
How did a bureaucracy help the Maurya emperors rule? iii.
Use the word tolerance to describe the rule of Ashoka. iv. How did Ashoka’s rule promote Buddhism? v.
What was the relationship between the Maurya government and the people it governed? Once each pair have completed the questions, we will go over the answers as a class. Finish up presentations. 3rd block:​
Begin projects. Each student has been assigned a partner and a topic. Students will research the topic on their Chromebook. Students will create a 7­10 slide GoogleSlide presentation on their topic. Students will also be required to write two paragraphs about the information they learned. Technology: Chromebook Wednesday

1. Bellringer 2. Standard 6.29 Centers 1. Bellringer: “The climate is changing: just look at the mummies.” (newsela.com). 2. 2nd block​
: 6.29 centers. 3. There will be four centers set up around the room: Two for Indian literature, one for medicine, and one for mathematics. Each group will have approximately 15 minutes at each center. 4. In the first Indian literature center, students will read an excerpt from the Ramayana. Students will be required to write at least 5 sentences summarizing the story. 5. In the second Indian literature center, students will read excerpts from the Mahabharata and Bhagavad Gita. Students will be required to write at least 5 sentences summarizing both stories. 6. In the medicine center, students will be reading about medical advances in Ancient India. Students will be required to explain the advances and tell me why they are significant to our study. 7. In the mathematics center, students will read about advances in mathematics. Students will be required to explain the advances and tell me why they are significant to our study. 8. 3rd block​
