chuggingforward.Sincethiswasthefirstweekbackthingsmovedalittleslower.Infact,on
thefirstdayIbelieveIpushedthekidsabittoohard,somethingIwouldneverdoonfirst
dayswithpreviousclasses,butwhenyouknowwhatkidsarecapableofyouwanttoseeit!
However,thatdayIlookedattheclassat3:00andtheywerewhipped!Granteditwasonly
200ºdegreesoutside,soIdon’tknowwhattheproblemwas...Wetookaslightstepbackto
closetheweek.
ThisweekbackalsosawthereturnoftheUofMinterns.Wehavetwofabulousteaching
internswhoIamexcitedtoworkwiththissemester.Iwillspeakmoreabouttheseinternson
CurriculumNight.

Winter 2016
Math
In math this week the class took a
beginning of the year assessment. The
scores on this assessment will help base
my instruction for these beginning
months. It was also a fabulous way to
see how much of the information I
covered late in first grade stuck with
the class. Later in the week we got our
math toolkits. The kids followed this
up with work in their new math
journals.
Science
Bullying Policy
Reminder
I have a very strict policy
about bullying in my
classroom. Basically I will not
have my kids be bullies, nor
will I have them be bullied by
others. If you hear about any
such incident please get in
touch with me right away.
Ask your child for as many
details as possible. The more
information I have the better
and quicker the response will
be.
In science I began the life cycle. This contained some
fabulous lessons where the class examined the life cycles of
houseflies, sheep, humans, and beans. This led to some
wonderful discussions.
Et Al.
It was a great week back and the kids did great. The kids
also had a fabulous time during learning centers as they
covered several phonics concepts.
