Introduction
Improve print quality with polymerized toner
Businesses need high-quality laser printing that is also cost
efficient. Conventional laser printer toner often produces low
quality prints with high energy and materials costs.
Businesses rely on laser printing for print quality and
efficiency. Polymerized toner provides:

Samsung polymerized toner uses small uniform particles
that are grown in water through a chemical reaction called
aggregation. This process produces sharper images and
lines, and higher wax content improves image gloss and
durability of prints to protect against folds and smudges. In
addition, the thinner and more uniform layer produced by
the process results in less waste and a lower fusing temperature that requires less energy.
These advantages, in addition to an eco-friendly manufacturing process, make Samsung polymerized toner
the ideal solution for quality-driven and environmentally
conscious businesses.

High image quality
Less power consumption
The smaller, uniformly distributed spherical particles that
make up polymerized toner produce better image resolution
and color accuracy than larger, asymmetrical conventional
toner particles.
Polymerized toner produces a much thinner and uniform
layer creating increased transfer efficiency. Therefore, printers produce less toner waste and require a lower fusing
temperature than that of printers that use conventional
toner. This lower fusing temperature reduces power consumption.

Reduced paper curl
Paper curl is caused by the thickness of the fused and
waxed layers of toner that are produced. The polymerized
toner fused layer is 20 percent thinner and the wax layer is
half as thick as conventional toner layers. This reduction in
thickness of layers results in a significant decrease in paper
curl as seen in figure 2, that reduces the amount of paper
jams, and in turn, reduces waste.
Gloss and color gamut range improvement
Individual particles contain functional ingredients, including
wax and pigment. These ingredients along with the core and
shell structure improve the gloss and color gamut (range
of colors available). The uniform particles are the result of
aggregation.

Increased durability
Eco-friendly manufacturing process
When laser printed sheets are folded or stored, they can
show some wear. This wear can be caused by an inferior
fusing process or the thickness of fused layers. Because the
fusing process of polymerized toner is much improved and
thinner, due to smaller toner particles and increased conformity, the durability of print outputs is greatly increased as
well.
The process of manufacturing polymerized toner is much
more efficient, using an average of 35 percent less electricity during production than conventional toner. This energyefficient manufacturing process reduces CO2 emissions
and further supports Samsung’s commitment to protect the
environment.

Polymerized toner uses smaller particles and provides outstanding transfer efficiency. These features allow for smaller
toner cartridges and thus smaller printer hardware. Packaging for smaller consumables and hardware lowers the
cost of shipping and logistics. Smaller-sized hardware also
increases the amount of available office space.

Polymerized toner enhances overall
image quality.
Compare polymerized toner to conventional
toner
Conclusion
With Samsung polymerized toner, businesses can achieve
the superior print quality they require while reducing power
consumption and material usage.
The following table compares models using polymerized
and conventional toner, including the focus areas of image
gamut, image text, toner waste, package size and power
consumption.
Focus area
Models using conventional toner
Models using polymerized toner
Image gamut
The mean gloss value is Gm = 4.0.
The color gamut, or range of colors available, shows a 118
percent increase with a mean gloss value of 8.7.
Image text
Text edges can be jagged and imprecise.
Text edges seem crisp with enhanced screen technology.
Toner waste
Layers are thicker with more toner waste and some
dust.
Layers are thinner with reduced toner waste and little or
no dust.
Package size
Package size is larger because of larger hardware
and cartridges.
Hardware is 11 percent smaller and cartridges are 4
percent smaller resulting in smaller package sizes.
Power consumption
Power consumption is greater for both ready and
sleep modes because of higher temperatures
required for the fusing process.
Running power consumption is reduced by 16 percent.
Ready mode power consumption is reduced by 59
percent and sleep mode power by 29 percent.
