2014 GFCC SECOND BLESSINGS CONSIGNMENT SALE GETTING READY PREPARING ITEMSCheck clothing for stains, tears, missing buttons, etc. All items must be clean, pressed, and in excellent condition. Please button, snap, or zip ALL clothes. 1. Hang clothes on hanger so that when looking at the front of the garment, the open side of the coat hanger hook is on the left (similar to a question mark--?). 2. Fasten multiple piece garments together with safety pins, clips, etc. and indicate on the sales tag the number of pieces included. 3. Shoes should be secured together with extra-long cable/zip tie. 4. Try to group small items together. For example, you can package bibs together and price as a single unit. 5. The same could be done for pajamas, leggings, onesies, books, small toys, rattles, or hair bows, to name a few. 6. Toys that have small parts should be bagged. If you do not bag small parts they WILL get lost and your item(s) may not sell. 7. Books, Videos, Board Games, Puzzles...blue painters tape is ideal for putting around CDs and VCR tapes to keep them from sliding out of their covers. Blue tape is also good for holding down your sales tag on books, games, and puzzles. 8. Be sure to wrap wooden puzzles in plastic before taping so that the tape doesn't ruin the front of the puzzle! Puzzles fit well into 2-gallon Ziplocs and helps prevent damage from taping. Indicate on your tag if all the pieces are included. 9. When placing items in a clear bag, securely TAPE the sales tag on the item inside the bag. Please use the smallest amount of tape needed so that removal at checkout will be easy. Excessive tape can damage items. 10. Tape the tops of your plastic bags closed. Little fingers are VERY curious. 11. Make sure all items with batteries are working. (A good place to find inexpensive batteries is at a Dollar Store.) 12. Check the recall list at the Consumer Products Safety Commission at www.cpsc.gov to be sure the toys you want to sell have not been recalled. Getting Ready Page 1 TAGGING and PRICING1. Fill out tag completely and make sure you include your consignor number. 2. Copy your tags on white cardstock to donate your unsold items after the sale. Any items with the tag colors in the white/beige/tan/yellow family will be donated. 3. Use any other color cardstock to have your items sorted for pickup at the end of the sale. Please note that all tags must be copied on cardstock weight paper. Copy weight paper is too thin and tags will separate from your item during the sale. 4. Prices should be in $1.00 increments. (Unsure how to price an item? A good rule of thumb is 1/5 to 1/3 of the original retail amount, taking into consideration the age and condition. For new items, 1/3 to 2/3 is generally about right.) 5. Clothing items should have specific sizes— NO small, medium or large. 6. If you wish your item to be included in the Half Price Sale, circle the “Y” with a red marker. Mark here 7. Once the sales tag is printed and filled out, attach it to the garment with a cable or zip tie. Put this through the button hole, belt loop, or the garment brand name tag found at the neck or side of the garment. (Cable/zip ties are available at stores such as Walmart and hardware department stores.) Second Blessings reserves the right not to sell items if they are not in accordance with our guidelines.
