The Learning Commons / Subject, Study, Writing, Citing Resources Access Different Schedules » The “Writing Center In-Person…” schedule is the default home page. › To go to another schedule, click the drop-down menu. Access Different Dates » The schedule defaults to displaying the current week. › To go to a different date, click “Previous week,” “Next week,” or the calendar icon. Access Appointment Location Information » Locations and hours of appointments vary by subject and day. Check › Scheduler for current information on the writing/subject-specific schedules, or › Appointment confirmation/reminder emails to your address registered with the system. Select Area of Focus » Use the ‘Show only’ drop-down menu to select an area of focus within the subject. Book In-person Appointments » White boxes indicate available appointments. › Click your preferred time slot to book an appointment. In-person (contd.) » In the window that pops up, fill all blanks, read top notice, and click “SAVE…” Web-based Appointments (in MST) » If offered, there are several web appointment formats in Mountain Time: eTutoring / Online via the Scheduler OR video conferencing via Skype/Zoom. › If offered, this would be noted at the top of the subject-specific schedule. Book Online Appointments » To chat online with a subject tutor, click a white box. In the window that pops up, 1. Select “Yes – …Online.” 2. Complete the form. 3. Click “Save appointment.” Online (contd.) » When you save your Online appointment, you will be prompted to attach your file(s). Follow the “click here” link. » Once you have attached your file(s), open your appointment form, and scroll to the bottom to check if it has been attached. Start / Join Your Online Appointment » A few minutes before your appointment hour begins, click the “Start or Join Online Consultation” link in your appointment form. Start / Join Cont’d » In the window that pops up, use the bottom right box to chat with your tutor. » Instructions on how to use the features in this space are on the whiteboard to the left. Book eTutoring Appointments » To book an eTutoring appointment, click a white box. In the window that pops up, 1. Select, “Yes – eTutoring Only” 2. Complete form. 3. Click “Save appointment.” eTutoring Cont’d » When you save your eTutoring appointment, you will be prompted to attach your file(s). Follow the “click here” link. » Once you have attached your file(s), open your appointment form, and scroll to the bottom to check if it has been attached. Simply put, eTutoring = student attaches file(s) to form (aka “drop off”) > tutor reviews it independently offline + attaches feedback to form within appt. hour > student retrieves feedback from form after appt. hour has ended (aka “pick up”). Book Skype/Zoom Appointments » Read the instructions at the top of the page to schedule Skype/Zoom appointments. Attach Files to Existing Web Appointments » If your file(s) was not ready at the time of making web appointments, then to attach it when it is ready, 1. Click the yellow folder icon at the top left of the page. Attach Files Cont’d 2. Select the appointment to which you want to attach your file(s), if you have more than one appointment scheduled. Attach Files Cont’d 3. Once you have attached your file(s), open your appointment form and scroll to the bottom to check if it has been attached. If the file(s) is too large, try emailing it to [email protected] and inform the tutor via the form. Retrieve Feedback after Web Appointments » Once the tutor has completed reviewing the file, they will attach it to the form, and it will be auto-mailed to the student’s email registered with the scheduler. » Or, the student may choose to retrieve it directly from the form. To retrieve tutor feedback, 1. Open your appointment form. 2. Scroll down to “Attached Files.” 3. Download tutor feedback. Cancel / Modify Appointments » To cancel/modify an appointment at any time, go back to your appointment form, and… Cancel / Modify Cont’d » …click “CANCEL…” › Missing 3 appointments without cancelling them or notifying us ahead of time will result in suspension of your Writing Center & Tutoring Services privileges for the semester. Join Wait List » To add yourself to the wait list for an appointment for a specific date/time/tutor, click the clock icon that appears next to the date & day on the desired schedule. » If an appointment is cancelled, all who signed up for the date/time/tutor will receive an instant notification via email/text. › Please note: Cancellation notifications do not guarantee appointments unless you log into the scheduler and book the appointment. Edit Profile » To edit your profile, once logged in, hover the cursor over your name to access the drop-down menu. » Then, click “Update Profile & Email Options.”
