Our US Senate candidate Deborah Ross was invited to be the Keynote Speaker at the Latin American Excelente Awards Gala on August 27 th in Raleigh. In her speech Deborah talked about her long history of supporting the Latino community in North Carolina and her positions on immigration. DEBORAH ROSS UPLIFTS SENIOR CITIZEN ISSUES! On Sunday, August 28th, Deborah gave an inspirational talk at Signature HealthCare of Chapel Hill. She talked with senior women and men and their families about her positions on Social Security and Medicare. They learned that Deborah cares deeply about their issues! Earlier on August 28th, Deborah attended church in Chapel Hill. Then she joined several of her supporters for lunch at the famous Sutton’s Drug Store on Franklin Street. This pharmacy is familiar to hundreds of thousands of UNC students and alumni. It is part of the UNC tradition. LEE COUNTY DEMOCRATS! For some time this publication has been asking for pictures of the children and grandchildren of super-active Democratic leader Betsy Wells of Kings Mountain in Cleveland County. They have arrived! In the picture above are Betsy’s four granddaughters: Willow, Emily, Hattie, and Kennedy. Betsy’s grandson, Aaron, and his bride, Samantha on their wedding day! After serving nine years as an outstanding Chair of the Cleveland County Democratic Party, Betsy Wells was elected Chair of the Tenth Congressional District Democratic Party. She is one of the most active District Chairs in the state! In 2014 Betsy and her fellow Cleveland County Democratic Women hosted the State Democratic Women Convention in Shelby. Betsy’s husband, Steve, is on the right in this picture with son Hart, granddaughter Kennedy, daughter-in-law Kelly, and daughter Kellene. Hart is a classical guitarist and teaches high school guitar in Virginia. Kellene is a high school guidance counselor. Steve and Betsy Wells with their son Brett and granddaughters Hattie and Willow. Brett works in the NC state government where he helps find housing for the homeless. Both Steve and Betsy were professional educators for many years before their retirement.
