ARTICLES
• A & An are INDEFINITE ARTICLE
• The is a DEFINITE ARTICLE
Examples:
A cat sat on an orange pillow.
The cat sat on the yellow pillow.
Predicate Adjective
An adjective that follows a linking verb
and describes or modifies the subject.
1. Peanut Butter is sticky.
2. The leaves felt wet after the rain.
3. Peanuts look nasty when boiled.
Note: if a word is in the prepositional
phrase and an O.P. it cannot be a PA!
Demonstrative Adjective
• A demonstrative adjective is an adjective that
points out a specific person or thing.
• Demonstrative adjectives are the words: This
that, these and those.
• This and that describe singular nouns.
• These and those describe plural nouns.
Proper Adjective
An adjective formed from a Proper Noun is called a Proper
Adjective. Proper Adjectives are always capitalized.

Predicate Adjective
A Predicate Adjective is an adjective that follows a
linking verb and describes (or modifies) the subject
of the sentence.
EXAMPLES:
1. Stephen should be careful of sharks.
2. Puppies are helpless at birth.
3. The Apache fighters were resourceful.
4. Jackson is cute.
5. Sarah was fast in the race.
6. The wind felt cold.

1. The space creatures seemed friendly.
2. From the top of the skyscraper, the cars below
look tiny.
3. After drinking the potion, Jay became very small.
4. The spoiled milk tasted sour.
5. Arturo felt sorry for the scarecrow.
6. The surface of Mars appears pinkish.
7. The tornado grew more powerful than Harold.
