Michelle’s Message
at the Parent Interviews later this term.
Welcome to Term 2. I hope you enjoyed a nice holiday break
with your children, despite the weather not being so kind. I Enjoy the long weekend and we will see all the children back on
Tuesday.. Michelle [email protected]
enjoyed hearing all about some of their holiday adventures.
We have had a very busy week as we prepared for our ANZAC
remembrance service and set up our Field of Remembrance.
This field of 30 crosses has been created by the children and
placed outside the hall. This along with the honours boards in
the hall showing former Mosston students who went to war
have made the learning so much more real for the children. It
has been great to see how well the children have embraced
learning about ANZAC Day and life 100 years ago. The children
are enjoying bringing in family treasures from the war or long
ago and sharing them with the classes. Thank you families for
your support .
Principal AWARDS
Tomorrow Mosston School will
be represented at the Dawn
Parade and we invite children
and their families to join us.
Please meet at the top of the
Memorial Hall steps in front of
the Art Gallery at 5:10am. The service begins
at 5:20am. Children are asked to wear school
uniform.
As a Mosston School leader
I try to be responsible and
lead by example. I take
pride in my work and love
to join in all kinds of
different activities. I love
coming to school and like
to help others to try new
things. I am not scared to
make mistakes because this
helps me to learn how NOT
to do it the next time! I
really enjoy playing sports
and usually play at least 2
kinds each season. If you
saw me perform in the
production last year (as the fairy) you will know I am not shy.
It is a very busy term as the Senior School visit the Army
Museum in Waiouru on the 29th April and the Junior School visit
the Pioneer Village in Stratford on the 5th May. These will be
exciting days and support our current inquiry unit. If you are
finding meeting these costs difficult, please come and see me as
we would like all children to attend.
Rooms 1, 2 and the Teaching Hub are also going to see the New
Zealand Symphony Orchestra perform in Palmerston North on
the 13th of May. We are very grateful to the sponsorship from
Affordable Plumbing , SEL Electrical, Rob Chamberlain Electrical
and Embassy 3 Cinema. Without their support this trip would
not have been possible.
We have welcomed Mrs Sarah Hanna to Room 6 and Mrs Ange
Wightman to the Teaching Hub (opposite Room 2) this week.
Mrs Barnett will also be teaching in Room 2 on a Tuesday. We
hope you all enjoy being on the Mosston School Staff and look
forward to having you work with our tamariki.
We are looking forward to another exciting and busy term and
look forward to sharing your child/ren’s achievements with you
Congratulations to the following students who received

Grace CARES
Grace thought it would be
good to do something special
in recognition of the World
War 1 commemorations. So
she came up with an idea to
crochet poppies and sell
them to people in order to
raise money for the RSA.
What a wonderful idea! Good
on you Grace .

correct coloured footwear.
If you are buying school uniform at The Warehouse, please
remember to nominate Mosston School for the loyalty points.
Just mention this to the checkout operator .

Parenting Tip - Born Leaders
They say leaders are born, not made, and those with children
who are extra-determined will know these traits are often
evident from a very young age. When a will of steel collides with
the normal developmental challenges of being a preschooler,
parents can feel overwhelmed and under-resourced for the task
at hand.
If you're living with a strong-willed preschooler, work hard to
keep developing the helpful, capable, and persistent traits that
they carry. Engage them in helping you, showing how clever they
can be, and giving lots of positive feedback for what they bring
to the family team. Yes, they can be resistant and oppositional,
but remember that whatever gets your attention will grow, so
try to keep the balance of your interactions focused on the good
stuff.
