Rinex Fieldnet increases GPS flexibility Rinex has taken the guesswork out of using global positioning system (GPS) guidance for farmers and contractors with the release of the GuideTrax (V3.2). Fieldnet — a new feature of the Guidetrax program — allows operators to run up to four machines in one paddock, displaying the ground covered by all machines on all of the monitors. This enables machines to work in partnership without guesswork or overlap. Megatrough gives elevated feeding options A new light weight transportable feed trough for sheep and cattle is available from South Australian company DM Plastics and Steel. With a galvanised steel frame the Megatrough folds up for transport and storage and snaps together when unfolded. The frame is claimed to be strong enough to handle being tipped over by stock and the feet contain extra holes for pegging the legs down. Same product, different name Machinery manufacturer AGCO is now the Australian distributor for Beeline ARRO products. Local Beeline dealerships will keep their name to retain clients and the knowledge base of these dealers. Former distributors, AgLine, based in Narrabri, New South Wales, will also remain Beeline dealers. Although the Beeline product is the same as existing AGCO guidance products, both brands will be available through their respective dealerships. CONTACT AGCO Australia (03) 9313 0313 Boom section controls are also linked in the program to reduce overlap further and allow guidance lines to be transferred between units. Other features include the setting of exclusion zones to prevent any machine in the paddock from covering that area and the inclusion of all passes on each monitor to simplify the collection of data such as actual spray application rates. Added to the standard guidance options of lock (round-and-round or contour) and parallel guidance is a replay function. Made of UV-resistant polyethylene, the trough has an anti-waste lip and can be unclipped at either end for cleaning or attaching to another trough. The replay function allows any previous guidance record to be used as a template for a current guidance. This way the operator can repeat exactly what was carried out previously. The trough is 6.6 metres long and weighs about 55 kilograms when empty. Guidance can be switched between lock, parallel and replay at any time in the paddock. Megatroughs cost $385 each. With many farmers operating with larger booms and at all hours of the day, the ability to control the boom to maintain a constant height can become a difficult task. To alleviate the stress of manually maintaining boom height, the height controller uses ultrasonic sensors to gauge the height of the boom and can override the hydraulics to raise or lower the individual sections of the boom. Measuring at a claimed 40 times per second, the unit is also claimed to be accurate up to an average speed of 29 kilometres per hour. An in-cabin controller shows the nozzle height from the ground, manual or automatic mode and allows quick alterations to the boom height via a toggle switch on the controller. The sensors are epoxy-sealed for waterproofing and fitted on breakaway brackets. Height detection can be set to monitor the ground or top of the crop or stubble. The unit costs $13,750.
