Dear Parents and Staff, Students who start their day with proper nourishment are better positioned to do well at school. I would like to take a moment to discuss the benefits of breakfast, provide you with an update on our school breakfast program. Breakfast really is the most important meal of the day for students, and all of us. Not only does it provide us with energy to start a new day, but breakfast is also linked to many health benefits and improved behaviors such as: • • • Higher academic scores-studies have shown eating breakfast at school results in higher test scores due to improved concentration and better problem-solving skills. Classroom conduct-hungry children are more likely to have discipline problems. Reduce tardiness-students who participate in the school breakfast program are less likely to be late or absent from school. By making breakfast a daily routine, student, learn healthy habits for life. Children who eat breakfast tend to have more adequate nutrient intake than those who don’t. Some studies have also indicated that eating breakfast on a regular basis reduces the risk of being overweight. Students will thank you. Whether through smiling faces or increased focus in class, students’ minds and bodies will be grateful. The goal of school breakfast is to ensure that every child gets the boost they need for physical and academic well-being. Breakfast is served daily in the cafeteria. Breakfast times are High School 7:40am-8:00am, Middle School 7:40am-8:12am, and Klager Elementary 7:40am-8:15am. Our strategy is to continue to partner with the district to meet regulatory meal guidelines as well as your expectations in providing quality, nutritious meals that students will enjoy at lunch and breakfast. We hope you and your students enjoy this wonderful program. Please contact me with any questions or feedback. We appreciate all comments.
