Aunt Alexandra
Mayella
Calpurnia is not prejudiced against one's race, she goes along with both Negros
and whites. In contrast, Aunt Alexandra believes in stereotypes.
Mayella is burdened with a lot of responsibilities and has no friends. Jem and Scout
are very independent and has many good friends in the neighborhood.
Calpurnia
Lula does not accept whites entering the Negros' church. Calpurnia thinks that
Negros are no different from the whites, and sees no fault for Jem and Scout
entering their church.
The Cunninghams Unlike the Cunninghams, the Ewells are dishonest and extremely wicked. They
frame a story to cover up their shame, while the Mr. Cunningham left the lynch
mob.
Bob Ewell
Unlike Mrs. Dubose, Bob Ewell is a coward. He accuses an innocent person to cover
up his shame.
Atticus Finch
Nathan stays quiet, not letting his brother out of the house. In contrast, Atticus
freely expresses his opinion out in the public.
Dill
Burris Ewell
Walter C. is quiet, shy, and rather meek. He constantly helps his family for farming.
In contrast, Dill is outspoken, independent, and adventurous.
Burris Ewell ignorant, he only attends every first day of school, and has a terrible
temper. Scout is extremely intelligent and considerate.
Grace Merriweather Mr. Underwoord publishes Maycomb's only newspaper, and stands up for justice,
guarding Atticus and Tom in the jail. Grace is a hypocrite and a racist.
Miss Stephanie Miss Maudie does not like gossiping about neighbors, unlike Miss Stephanie. In
contrast, Miss Stephanie is always full of questions.

Both symbolic of 'law and justice'. Wants the best for the town, serves for
the town's justice and fairness.
Mr. Cunningham
Both cares about fairness and justice, but looked down for their low
systems.
Dill
Scout and Dill are both extremely independent and adventurous. They
enjoy mischievous games.
Nathan Radley
Nathan and Dill are both unhappy about their family lives. Nathan has a
brother who is a recluse, and Dill's parents have no interest in him.
Cecil Jacobs
Francis and Cecil both accept the prejudice that is running deep in the
town. They call Atticus "nigger-lover".
Miss Gates
Both Miss Gates and Mrs. Merriweather are prejudiced and extremely
hypocritical.
Atticus Finch
Mr. Grimes help the Negros and neglected, not caring about their colors.
Atticus defends Tom, who is an African American man.
Tom Robinson
Boo and Tom are both the mockingbirds of the story. They are
discriminated against their neighbors.
Burris Ewell
Bob and Burris are both ignorant and lack proper education. They are also
both dependent on Mayella for living, avoiding their chores and works.
